Yes. Playing in a trio and wanted to get an idea of how the other parts fitted.

Ahh, I see (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Looking forward to hearing it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

mine needs a service too, it's when I can fit it in that's the problem. Have made progress with part of the Lefevre today, the Finzi is coming along nicely, just the Rachmaninov to get my fingers round now. Also have G6 scales to play daily too, I'll never remember them fully....

Mine is away to be fitted with a new thumb-rest! Using a borrowed, cracked, old buffet B12 with a number 2 reed... it's hard work!!

I'm using a buffet B12 too but it's not cracked. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Do you mean you are using different reeds than usual? Not a good idea.

Yes, but only for 2 days. I am visiting friends and my good reeds (Number 3) are at home.

Hi dotted quaver, I'm not actually doing the exam, just following the AB syllabus as something for me to work towards. I did grade 3 a couple of years ago, it terrified me, no more exams for me. Will do the same with the G7 list when we get there.

Which pieces are you playing? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

What a funny morning!
I got up, dressed, assembled clarinet, blindly picked a book from my sheet music bag (more like an overly large breifcase). Great. Abba. Never played any of it before (that I remember) and decided on Take a Chance on Me. I managed to sight read it all but some funny things were happening.
The notes were A*, D. So I put my D fingers (left hand) and A fingers (right hand) then played both notes with no finger movement. It sounded pretty interesting (no ring finger). I got to a repeat bar and had to do a mad change while trying to play an A* and turning the page (any advice?) so I had to work out which hand to move.
I'm having a few minutes break before I try to play something else (and a coffee to wake up).

For the page turn I'd copy pages where necessary to avoid awkward turns.
Not sure about your 'alternative' fingering.... it could well be a genuine alternative for something but I'm not familiar with it so will leave it for someone else to comment on.

It was very alternative - if it isn't already something, I propose to call it the 'sleep chord of D'.

How long do services normally last on an instrument that's not being played?

The A tuning will be suspect with that fingering.

It was more muffled than going swimming in ear-muffs.
