Hi, I wonder if any one can give me advice on composition software? I have tried researching on internet, but am a little overwhelmed!

I would like software that will allow me to play through a keyboard and transfer onto a score that I can then print. I don't need multiple instruments as I just want to write for piano solo....

any ideas!?

I'd say "Music Publisher" from Braeburn Software, but I don't know whether you can input to it directly from a piano kbd. No harm in asking them, though. It's the software I use.

I'm sure you can do it with Sibelius, but I've never used it.

you can, and I have, but Sibelius is quite expensive I hear (used it in university on university computers so never shelled out for it myself)

Have you looked at Musescore? It's free and I've found it easy to use. It says that you can enter music using a midi keyboard, although I haven't ever tried using this feature and can't advise on how good it is for this.

Musescore is free I believe and would do fine for what you want.

That's great - thank you, I didn't think that I'd be as lucky to find anything for free! Considering that Sibellius starts at over ?100 I think that I will definitely give the musescore a go

thanks again
