Now he's working on my death grip - 1 finger scales up the G string!!! ie A major on the 1st finger, B major on 2 all the way to D on 4th (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

I 'do' like one finger scales, all combinations of them on all strings all the way up the fingerboard, I never get bored of them (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif)

I don't understand this (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) Do you mean using one finger only to play the whole scale? So you're moving your hand position all the time?

miffy - how do you play that - are those your finger numbers?

Scales in broken thirds are really good for waking your fingers up! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) You can take the fingerings from here (the scales in 3rds start on the 4th page):

Plus, I wish I'd worked on them before I started to play double-stopped thirds - when I first tried to learn double stops, the sound of the major scale would completely go out of my head and I'd get all confused with accidentals. Playing broken thirds gets you used to the sound and the pattern of major and minor thirds.
