Well I'm sure everyone knows what's been happening here over the last week...lesson today was a violin testing session, except for the last 15 mins (and it was 1.5hrs long!) when he looked over the Hungarian Dance no.5 for me to play and put fingerings in. The proper arrangement with the double stopping all over it. I have to attempt to get it ready for a concert on the 9th Dec...lots to work on this week whilst testing instruments...

This thread has been quiet for a while, but....my teacher has just asked me to start learning the Bruch Violin concerto - from cover to cover. This is the first major concerto I've ever attempted to do that with! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)
But at least he must now be happy with my general technique (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

It is such an amazing concerto! I worked on it many moons ago (when I still knew how to play a violin (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) ), 2nd movement was decent, 1st sort of okay, 3rd a complete shambles (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

It is fiendishly difficult, but you learn so much on it! Let us know how you are getting on...

I'm looking forward to it (I think!!) as I know how much I'm going to learn - I'm sure it's just the next wave of technique upgrade! My teacher doesn't use study books, he just uses parts of pieces.....

When I started playing it, I thought I had a decent command of multiple stops, but I somewhat stood corrected:
It's great fun to have your pinkie locking repeatedly (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I have recently done the Joachim version of Brahms Hungarian Dance No.5 which is chock full of them, so hopefully I'm a little primed for them (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)
