Dear all,
I am stuck for a psalm chant - I know the first notes, but am struggling to recall the composer or find the music! The chant, to psalm 121, begins: C, F, G Bb, A, G, F, G, A Can anybody assist? This is irritating me! Thanks, Tosher |

I think you'll find that the notes are actually a fourth higher and that it's a chant by Herbert Howells in B flat. I've heard it to many different psalms, but it wouldn't be my first choice for Ps 121.

Thanks for the quick replies - being cheeky, does anybody know where I can find the music online?

I doubt you'll find it online because it's still in copyright.
It's published in the RSCM chantbook (also in the New St Paul's Cathedral Psalter and the Lincoln Psalter). |

I know it's not a chant, but - at the risk of appearing very stupid amongst you proper organists - you're not thinking of the hymn "I Lift My Eyes" are you? (no 281 in Mission Praise"). It's in F so the notes you gave are correct. It may be based on Howells in Bb for all know)
