Does anyone know of any recordings (preferably an easily accessable one ie. youtube!) of a piece (preferably violin but any string instrument or infact any instrument/work) that is either played by or conducted by the composer. Has to be recorded before 1940... chances of finding a good quality one = nil!!
I'm sure i've heard some of Sarasate's own recordings somewhere Thanks! |

Try Kreisler, Rachmaninov and Britten for starters.

Kreisler did loads. There is Elgar conducting a young Menuhin playing his concerto. Also Bartok accompanying his own compositions with Szigeti on violin.
