The post bought a Trinity envelope today...

A fail, with very few positive comments throughout. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

A blow, I admit. I'm not retaking it - it would be have to be a December exam and I start an MSc in September, I would rather use the 200-odd-pounds for living costs and I think I'd probably suit another college/exam board more if I were to try another diploma at this level.

Since the recital a month ago, I've delved into pieces which in theory are "harder" but are far more me and that's how I plan to continue. After all, I am a mathematician first and foremost with music being my light relief!!

Academic music diploma final exam is 3 weeks today and then my musical year of studies is over.

Ah well!

Sorry to hear that.
Too bad they didn't like your playing enough.

Very sorry to hear that, pcf. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I'm sorry to hear that. Still, I hope that the process of doing the diploma was a positive one.

You're still a fine pianist and a first class accompanist. Never forget that. All the best for the future.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) I enjoyed listening to your programme. There was a lot in it that was very very good.

Thank you for all the lovely words.

A hugely busy day hasn't given me time to really process the information (teaching foundation level GCSE maths and conducting orchestras with 30 minutes notice has that effect!).

I'm not too upset to be honest, whilst yes, I'd have loved to have passed, I know bits were rough and actually it taught me a lot about what I'd generally put in a recital programme and what to avoid. And it confirms I'm not a solo pianist by preference, I'm an accompanist instead, so onwards and upwards, as they say!

Sorry to hear that you didn't pass, but I think it's good that you feel you've learnt something through the process (or perhaps had your gut feeling confirmed) and many of us would love to be a good accompanist as you clearly are. Good luck for your next music exam. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/fingersCrossed.gif)

Commiserations, pcf. It's a bit depressing when there are few positive comments, but I'm sure your playing will have improved a lot as a result of preparing for a diploma.

Good luck for your academic music diploma final in three weeks' time. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Having heard you and Invidia play and katyjay sing, it's hard to believe your standards are not up to passing! Sorry to hear your news pcf, but best wishes for your future ventures.

Sorry to hear this (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) but we all know just what a VERY VERY GOOD musician you are, and as you say, you've learnt something about what works for you in a recital.

I came home from orchestra last night and raved to Him Indoors about the way you took the first part of the rehearsal (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) and we all raved about you stepping into the barbershop group at the drop of a hat (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

There are lots and lots of us here who would be grateful for a fraction of your talent! Not only your musicianship but your sheer professionalism. Onwards and upwards!

and therein lies just one of the reasons why you have the job as my official accompanist, pcf (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
