Le Concert des Vents - Yorkshire Wind Orchestra

Treat yourself to a taste of France this March at an evening of French music, wine and cheese, hosted by the Yorkshire Wind Orchestra.

A French-themed classical music concert is taking place at St Margaret's Church on Queen's Road, Ilkley on Saturday 24th March at 7pm. The theme will continue into the interval where a selection of French produce will be on offer for the audience to sample, including wine, cheeses and bread from different regions across France.

"A number of local businesses have kindly helped to support our charity?s concert and we are pleased to be bringing the orchestra to Ilkley for this special event" says Keiron Anderson, the leader of Creative Arts at Ilkley Grammar School, who directs the Yorkshire Wind Orchestra.

The regional orchestra is made up of semi-professional and quality amateur woodwind, brass and percussion players, many of whom live and work within the North Leeds area.

Due to the nature of the event, advanced ticket booking is essential. Tickets are available from the Grove Bookshop music department and online at www.yorkshirewinds.co.uk, priced ?14, ?11 (concessions) and ?8 (students and under 16s) and include interval refreshments.

Afraid that's not a weekend I'm in Yorkshire, sorry. But it looks a good gig : Keiron's always done a decent job at the ELCC playdays (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I am in that area midweek, but not weekend. I might say that the organ in that church is one of the finest I have played. (My sister taught in Ilkley, and I played for the school carol service !)

Yes we used the organ at St Margarets for our Percy Grainger Tribute last year and it sounded wonderful. Its a pity your not around at weekends it is a lovely programme with wine and cheese too! PLease do pass on the word to your colleagues if you know people in and around Ilkley. Tickets are now at The Grove bookshop or can be bought online from our own website www.yorkshirewinds.co.uk

I haven't really done a diary this year : I'm letting each event stand on its own merits with its own thread. It didn't seem to do the Egham adult learners' concert any harm (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

You're brave : promoting a west of the Pennines event on an east of the Pennines thread (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
