Pancakes were available in the canteen. Actually it was only one pancake per portion, but they were big thick ones folded up. I had lemon and sugar - there was also maple syrup available (and, while technically an accompaniment to the other dessert [Bakewell Tart], custard!)

Pancakes in Valhalla will have a variety of toppings - first couple will have lemon and sugar, then chocolate spread, then home-made blackcurrant and apple jam. Burp!

I said Burp! but perhaps Boing! would have been more accurate - I spent most of yesterday evening on a sugar high (IMG:style_emoticons/default/jumpin.gif) <--- goes an awfully long way to describing it.

Yup! Or just maple syrup and lemon juice if there is no bacon available. It's not as nice that way though!

Like you can get honey-roasted ham, you can get maple-cured bacon. It is lovely (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) With a squelch of lemon, and you have a bacon/maple/lemon pancake to bemuse your friends with (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Oh, not for me please. Any other meat except that. Yesterday I bought some nice venison sausages from Sainsbury. I'd never tried them before. Quite a strong flavour but very tasty. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Nothing wrong with bacon...it's the covering of it in maple syrup that I object to (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Well..... local farm raises rare breed pigs and smokes and cures its own bacon. One of the options is a maple syrup cure. Another is black molasses - very good but it goes black as you cook it!

Very good sausages as well
