For an adult or for a child?

The Oxford cello school caters for both:

I was going to recommend these; one of my colleagues attended for many years, perhaps he still does (now retired). I think they are all longer than "day or weekend" though, aren't they?

This one could be ideal for you; http://www.englishcamerata.org.uk/

Elizabeth Altman is a friend of mine and although I haven't yet attended the course due to time constraints, she is trying to persuade me again this year, I have heard good reports from others.

Wow! Ditto - 25 minute drive for me. Given the difference in residential/non-residential rates, might as well stay anyway!

One I've been looking at is: www.nlmsmusic-summerschool.co.uk

I went on the NLMS summer school last year and had a great time. I would have gone back this year, but the dates mean that it now clashes with the chamber music course that I go on.

I'm still looking for another suitable orchestral course...

There's a more general thread on summer courses here.

I've edited the first post to include the great suggestions from oldnotes, Tenor Viol, Willobie and Roseau.

I don't think there are any on the list, lottie.

The nearest I can think of, and it's probably the wrong style, is NORVIS in Durham. This is an early music summerschool, which includes Baroque strings (and woodwind) as well as voice, viol, recorder, lute, keyboard continuo. Pitch is likely to be A415. There is a web site www.norvis.org.uk

I have been several times and from a music and location viewpoint, it's great. I'm less struck on the standard of accommodation, which is fairly basic.

I would be prepared to stay in a decent local hotel if accommodation is rubbish - I need a decent bed (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Has anyone ever been on the Charterhouse Summer School? I've signed up for it this year and wondered whether anyone was going to be there?
