I'm preparing possible material for a Christmas concert (I know, a while yet!) and am looking for things I can do with solo or trio sonata style treble recorders and a small ensemble of other instruments. I have access to a large number of other recorder players of all sizes, including a contrabass, most players about grade 5-6 standard, a grade 3 cellist and an assortment of violinists that I don't know anything about their standard and experience. I know of the more common things, and the Christmas concerto has a certain appeal but not sure how I could bring it together for orchestration without having to use a piano reduction, which I always feel sounds wrong - we won't have a harpsicord but they may be able to give us a digital piano with a harpsicord sound. I can do a certain amount of arranging and transposing, but I'd rather not put in the work if I don't have to. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Does anyone know anything suitable? I want the solo part to be reasonably challenging. I've never taken any actual exams on recorder apart from presenting the complete grade 7 syllabus for my A level music and doing well. I've played on since then and would estimate my playing standard in the 8+ zone.
