I have never provided copies for the examiner for anyone doing AB grade 8. For other examining boards or festivals our accompanist plays from the originals - he insists upon it because the paper behaves differently from copies and page turns are easier (he says). Examiners/adjudicators get copies which are destroyed afterwards. No-one has complained - yet!

I don't think that AB Grade 8 thing is official; it was definitely 'mentioned' at some time - maybe in Libretto? Can't remember.

I've accompanied many Grade 8 singers and never given copies of the music to the examiner - I've not heard of it as a requirement.

It's in the syllabus, page 11 in the case of the singing one, that candidates performing from memory should make sure a copy of the music is available, should the examiner wish to see it. It's not specific to Grade 8, either.

It doesn't have to be a separate copy though, as the examiner only needs to see it before or after the performance.

No, agreed, but it's worth bearing in mind should a singer's accompanist is using a part which doesn't accurately show the vocal part.
