Glad to read I am not the only teacher having a panic about pupils and exams. I think the main problem is we all believe that everyone else's pupils are note perfect and well prepared and that it is only ours that are lagging behind. Makes me feel much better to know that I am not alone battling on with my lot! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blush.gif)
Good luck to everyone and here's hoping for some happy results

My candidates this term are fine, but the last few terms I have had dodgy ones who have turned my hair grey due to lack of effort after I'd entered them! Relieved to hear I'm not the only one! Good luck everyone! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I'm doing mock exams this week. It's amazing how easily they seem to be thrown by going straight through the requirements, and not getting a second attempt at most things!

And how many interruptions? Aaaaargh, One poor child taking grade 3 had (unusually ) a disrupted lesson. Two of my Friday pupils decided to pop round to see if they could pick up a book that was forgotten LAST FRIDAY.

And the local music shop, in their wisdom, decided to phone up and leave an interminably long message about the launch of the new syllabus. Right in the middle of the aural. A message which they also sent by email and which I picked up half an hour later. *sigh*.

Anyone got a desert island going?

Well, now 6 days to go before the exam and I offered a couple of extra lessons to pupils doing exams next week as I'm going away tomorrow for a week - all accepted. Pupil 1 turned up with scales much better, so pleased with that. Suggested she try the "record yourself and go through it with the music" (love this idea, thank you to whoever posted it a few days ago) for the pieces to iron out some unevenness. Now hopeful she'll be okay.

Pupil 2 comes to me at home, but attends the secondary school I teach at. As she couldn't manage an extra lesson at home I suggested she come to me in school - so I put her on my timetable and phoned mum to let her know the time. Pupil didn't turn up at specified time. I waited 20 mins then went off to do a couple of jobs. In the time I was away she turned up and was sent to my teaching room. I was told and I went back to my teaching room - she wasn't there. Couldn't be bothered to wait! Not impressed!

I have one tomorrow too, with a run-through at school first. I hope she's learned her scales rather better than she had last week. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

What a shame. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Mine did rather better in the exam than in the run-through - I was pleasantly surprised as she is the sort to stop and throw up her hands in horror when she makes a mistake.

That's good!
At least my lad didn't actually cry - but he came quite close when he had to restart the 1st piece and then mucked up the ending... He's more positive about the rest of the exam - I do hope he's right...
