Indeed, please do come - we'd love to see you! Bring both instruments (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Well at least i could provide the entertainment- woman juggles music stand, clarinet and tuba that would be a unique act I think!
Is there likely to be any other brass players there at all?

I could bring my cornet but it wouldn't be fair on the rest of you (plus I'm not sure it's all that in tune or able to be tuned.............)

might bring my flute if you're short on 'other instruments', and I'm feeling brave and there is someone who will actually be able to play the part (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

Is there a minimum playing standard required to come to the play day. I play clarinet say grade 4 but quite comforted by the fact that i could hide in amongst the many others that seem to be going or could i bring my b flat tuba instead grade 3 ish, although worried that my equally bad playing will stick out like a sore thumb if there is no one to hide behind!
(IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

All of us (but especially me) are going at some point to play either the wrong note at the right time, or the right note at the wrong time. No one on the playday will laugh at you..well we will, but it'll be good natured. At least you can hide among other players. I know I'll be the only bassoon, and you certainly can't hide on that (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

I have literally just seen this! Leeds is about an hour and half away from me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I will see if my French horn playing friend would like to come and let you know (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Should I bring my flute? You seem to have tons more clarinets going than anything else ATM! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/clarinet.gif)

It's a jolly unfortunate weekend for me, but I am trying to get to Leeds to go and salivate in the Early Music Shop and not buy another recorder. On the off chance I can make it, any preference on instrument? I can be:

Recorder 8+
Viola 8+ but not preferred since I play it in every other orchestra everywhere
Violin 7-ish (cos of the high notes, I don't read them so well)
Flute 6 in theory but haven't played properly since I left the band
Piano for a laugh
Cello - well, least said soonest mended there, I think!
Oh, and a set of bagpipes can travel with me, but I can't play them. Anyone who fancies a squawk is welcome, but nobody is to pass out this time. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Depends which type : a descant would cut through cheesewire (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Bring what you like (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) In a group, I suspect descant would cut through better than most, but bass recorders would be equally welcome, we're always short on the bottom end (stop it... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) )

Wasn't suggesting that, just thinking about the possibility of being a bit swamped by other woodwind and possibly brass. Doesn't really matter as the idea will be to have fun playing together.

Sadly, I won't be free that weekend - I just wanted to stick up for any recorder players who may be considering giving it a try...

Gah - just looked at the train information and there isn't even a timetable currently available for that Sunday, because of engineering works! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

I suspect I'll be able to make it one way or another, but I won't be able to confirm till the end of this month when the temporary timetable info is finalised - hope that will be OK.

Barry - if I can come, any preference as to whether I bring tenor or alto sax? Do you need something to provide a bass line? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
