Here is an interesting thing, I think! Name the three composers that you think, objectively (!) are the GREATEST. The name the three that you personally enjoy listening to or playing the most!
It's supposed to be fun, so please don't fall out. The three GREATEST is my opinion: (not in any particular order) J.S. Bach Beethoven Shostakovich My three FAVOURITE to play or listen to: (again, not in any particular order) J.S. Bach Schubert Chopin Some may be upset by not including Mozart, but he would not be in my top three for either list. He may well be my number 4 in the "greatest" list. |

This is more difficult that I thought, and I guess depends on which instrument(s) you like playing/listening to.
Anyhow, here goes: Greatest JS Bach Handel Elgar Favourites Louis Vierne Cesar Franck Elgar You might just notice a pattern emerging from my second list. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) To make this more interesting, if you were marooned on a desert island, and could only have music by one composer on your iPod or whatever, which composer would that be? I would vote for Sir Edward Elgar. SB |

Yup v difficult...
Favourites Dvorak, Brahms, Schubert Greatest Mozart, Bach, Haydn (but Schubert is kind of tied with Mozart and Haydn in the favourites list ... and I really should have Stravinsky in the greatest... and how could I leave him out of favourites? and what about Tchaikovsky? and R Strauss, and Weber, - and - and - TOO DIFFICULT!) |
