I've just heard from organiser and violin tutor Christine Harrison that there are two unexpected vacancies on the residential "Basically Quartets" courses taking place this month at a country house in the North Wales hills overlooking Anglesey (sounds idyllic!).

There is a vacancy on the first course, August 14 - 19 ((Tuesday to Sunday) for a strong leader (ABRSM 8+ standard) with quartet experience.

There is a vacancy on the second course, August 20 - 25 (Monday to Saturday), for an intermediate level (ABRSM 7/8) violist preferably with some quartet experience.

Full details and a contact form are on the website: www.basicallyquartets.net

The courses are opportunities to work intensively on string quartets with four experienced professional tutors. I've already come across and been impressed by Christine and cello tutor George Kennaway, at CoMA (Contemporary Music for All) summer schools. As well as being a string teacher Christine is very interested in injury prevention for musicians. George (cello) started the Yorkshire Late Starters' String Orchestra.

As I've mentioned elsewhere, I will be be going on this again and have really enjoyed it in previous years...
