Just a thought...how many people here would rate people like Lennon and McCartney, Stevie Wonder, the various members of 10cc, Rod Temperton etc. as composers?... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

I voted for Johann Sebastian Bach. As long as I can think he is my favourite composer. His variability in pieces is amazing for me (listen to BWV 540 and Air on a g-string).

I would add certain prog rock giants (deeply unfashionable I know) - Yes, early Genesis and Floyd and the magnificent, brilliant, unsurpassed Frank Zappa (well I quite like him). How many will be included in a poll like this in 200-300 years time is questionable (or is it?). |
