Hi guys, from a warm wonderful South Africa tongue.gif
This year I did my first practical exam, piano Grade 5. I did it in September
and it took me up until now to get my results-They got lost in the post!!
I was so relieved to hear that I got 124/150, a merit I think. It
doesn't sound that impressive, but for a first prac. I don't think it's too bad. wink.gif
I also did G.5 theory this year, which was a bit chaotic because this year has been
absolutely crazy for my teacher. (He got sick and everything else seemed to go wrong.)
Soooo..., when we finally got our act together, about three weeks before the exam,
we had to work like you can't believe to catch up! We were hoping and praying for a pass, and in
the end, I got 88/100, also a merit! Two Marks From a DISTINCTION! WAAAAAGH!!!!
I suppose I'm really lucky though - it could have been much worse.
Next year, I'm going to try Grade 7 piano. Yes, I know you'll say "What's wrong with G.6?", but I've already
done a bit of work on the G.6 pieces and I must say that they didn't really 'work' for me, if you know what
I'm saying.

How did your year turn out exam wise and what are you planning for next year?

Well done thats brilliant. Just remember though that its not just the pieces that are harder. The scales, arpeggios, aural tests and sight-reading will all be a lot harder if you take grade 7 instead of grade 6. Why not have a break from exams for a while and concentrate on some repertoire. There are so many good pieces out there that it's a total waste not to learn at least a few in between each exam.
