need some help, i am composing a piece in music with the title of storm. The piece has to be in the classical/romantic style. I have started of my piece in D minor. I want ot give the effect of the storm calming a clearing up. To do this i thought of modulating into a major key but don't know what key and how to do it.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Any suggestions of books which also may help be to learn how to do this

You could modulate into the tonic major - D major or to the relative major - F major

how could you do a smooth transition into either d major or f major. what chords would you use?

You use pivot chords. To get to D major, use E minor and then A major (with a seventh); for F major, use G minor and then C major (with a seventh). This is one way (ie supertonic, dominant seventh of new key), but many roads lead to Rome!

Make the final chord major instead of minor.
