Hi everyone
Is anyone free on Friday? My accompanist has just told me that her anticipated page-turner can't make it to my LTCL exam, so I need to find a replacement.
The exam's at Trinity College in Greenwich, at 2pm - we'll be there from 1.30 or thereabouts - and should be over by about 2.50 pm.
Please PM me if you would be free/prepared to do it.
Thanks
Katyjay

I would have been happy to do it, as it's the holidays, but I'm away on the Easter Early Music course from tomorrow for a week (yay!), so I won't be around! But I just wanted to wish you the best of luck - I do hope it all goes well, and look forward to reading about it (probably when I get back from the course, although I will be taking my laptop just-in-case - but last year the venue's Internet connection was 'down' for almost the whole time we were there!)
GOOD LUCK, KATYJAY

Thank you both of you.
Jo - I hope you enjoy the course.
Hoxie, yes it's in south-east London; and I hope that you are back to school and feeling well.

Oh damn, I'm going to be there from thursday till tuesday but there's some funeral on Friday. It seems pointless to go, seeing as I've only seen this person once in my entire life. Anyway, I've committed myself to it now. Would have come and turned for you otherwise. Your pages, that is; me just standing there and turning won't be much good!
Good luck and hope it goes well.

i'm not feeling ill, i'm just struggling to walk due to having myalgia (sp?) last year which has triggered off with coursework stress! so i've been off today but will hopefully be back before the holidays begin

but thanks

I might be able to
I'll give you a definite answer tomorrow (I'm supposed to have a meeting on Friday but I've got a feeling it's been cancelled); in the meantime, if there's anyone who can definitely help katyjay, let her know.

katyjay, if it wouldn't involved rather a long train journey then I would be happy to - what a great excuse to listen to you sing - but I do hope it goes really well!
Best wishes - sorry can't help out!

Thanks for all your support, folks, it's really appreciated.
I've tried calling a few people locally, but the short notice means it's not an easy time for anyone (and I live the wrong side of London for Greenwich, it's an hour and a half journey from here).

Just about to PM Katyjay to say I could do it if she still hasn't found anyone. Good excuse to spend a bit of time in the British Library!

Well, I'm back! What an afternoon - a magical mystery tour around Greenwich, a bit of a gossip (it wasn't my fault we ended up talking about Dmitri Hvorostovsky, honest!) - oh, and katyjay did her recital. From my seat in the corner, far beyond the lowest notes of the piano, she did very well. The Menotti made me laugh, the Strauss made me cry, the whole lot made we want to sing!
katyjay will no doubt give you her views on the whole experience, but if it was down to me I'd be happy to award her an LTCL.

Great

. If she's anything like me, she'll be glad of having you there as I can remember very little of how my actual performance went when I come out the exam

Well, I'm back too, absolutely shattered. Still bugging myself about the error in the Strauss, the slips in the Britten and the miscount in the Menotti - although the bulk of the programme went OK, I think.
Deborah was a great help, and heroically didn't say anything when I got us lost on the way back to the train station......someone had put a building site in the way.

I'm sure you did really well.
The worst thing about exams / interviews or anything where you are under pressure and want to do well is that afterwards you run everything over in your mind again... and again... and again....
Try and forget about it - bet it was a great performance and that's what counts - and go and pour yourself a glass of wine or something, then have a restful weekend.

Oh I know, I hate it... I hate the way the aural is always last in music exams, seeing as the last section of the aural is what I always fall down on, and I go out of the exam thinking about it
But I'm sure you did great - and nice name!! Lol.

Actually you can do the various parts of the exam in
any order you like. At the moment I think that point is only made in "These Music Exams", but I believe it's going to be mentioned in the practical exam regulations in future. I've accompanied exams where the candidate wanted to start with something other than the accompanied items and that was OK - I just had to lurk outside until they were ready for me!

I can't - I'm on holiday that week, so I'll have to leave katyjay's extremely capable accompanist in someone else's (your?) hands.
