Three weeks today but it didn't come in the post, and not online yet sad.gif Shame as two of them are going away for a month as from tonight.

Interesingly, I had a student take his exams two days after the others and I had his results almost a week ago ohmy.gif

Anyone else still waiting for the practical results?

Mine are online today - exams were 5 July.
Maybe there's a problem? Once my results were held up because Mr Examiner hadn't added up one sheet correctly. If you're worried, give them a ring - they won't bite!
andante_in_c
Yes, I am. I haven't been waiting as long as you, though: one from 7th July and one from 10th.

Yes - exams were on July 7th and no sign of anything yet. I really hope they come in soon - the kids are all about to break up from school. I think this is the longest I've ever had to wait.
Louise
Mine were on the 3rd July sad.gif I usually expect to wait 3 weeks, but usually get them before the end of term.

Not complaining 3-4 weeks isn't unknown, but it usually works that the later the exam (in the term) the quicker the results. Not sure if that's something I've imagined though. rolleyes.gif

Our kids broke up last week.

My friend's exam was 1st of July, and he got his last Wednesday I think it was. Mine was the 11th and I'm still waiting. I hope they come soon as I'm going away on Saturday for two weeks!

Still waiting for a practical result from 7th July. And for my theory result - which is ridiculous given that some people have had their theory results for a week now.

It would be good to have someone from the ABRSM explain why there are hold-ups and glitches, rather than just a complete silence and lack of results.
andante_in_c
Yes, I think it would be really helpful to know what happens to results after the exam is taken. The A level/GCSE exam board AQA used to have a 'what happens to your script' section on their website. It would be good to have the same.

The music exam boards have a long way to go to be as transparent as the school exam boards are, in my opinion.
sherunsaway
I'm ranting about this everywhere, but I still haven't got my result from the 26th june.

It might have arrived and the musical director of the school hasn't given them to my teacher yet or various people may be on holiday but it's still annoying.

I have always supposed that the examiner has to check out the script first after the day's practical work has ended (actually I do know from colleagues who examine that bit is correct) and re-write if necessary (spelling, bad addition etc). They then send the forms back to London.

After that I believe we were told at an ABRSM seminar that every single form is read at HQ, checked for errors and marks entered into their computer for each section of each candidate's exam. If there's a mistake on the form, it goes back to the examiner to be corrected and that's sometimes where delays can occur if the examiner is away from home when the form is returned to be re-written etc. Then, I guess, the certificate has to be issued, all the forms from the whole entry double-checked and packaged up and mailed.

Doesn't sound much until you realise that ABRSM processed 600.000 exams last year (or some other fairly large figure like that). That's quite a lot of reading and processing for someone! smile.gif

I agree though, it would be good to have a definitive version of "this is how we do it" from the Board.

Well, the e-mail came this evening. A bit spooky, after my little moan this morning! Results about what I'd hoped for based on their performances in lessons, 3 distinctions, 3 merits and a pass, although mostly a few marks below what I'd predicted overall. I'm looking forward to seeing the comments now.

My e-mail came this evening too. But the results were online at 10am today.

I'm still waiting sad.gif 3rd July for my students exams

Wondering how long you would leave it before you started making enquiries?
elliewelly
I'd leave it 5 weeks. That's the longest my practical results have ever taken. My friend has just had some from the 6th July so I'm not expecting the 13th July ones for at least a week yet.
frumpybabes
Still waiting for 3rd July and 13th July, we are in the south. Wonder if different areas are quicker than others?
jod
Still waiting for one result sat on 12th July. Having worked in an exam board, I know things can be time consuming and they want accuracy, but my pupil/son wants his result too. However its only been a fortnight so far!

I think we will just have to wait a long time this session mad.gif I'm already impatient - but it could still be another couple of weeks for me. I was talking to a pupil the other day who said her ballet exam results take 3 months! blink.gif
possom
I received my result today from the 15th July so shouldn't be long smile.gif

Still waiting for girls' violin results from 21st June. Spoke to school office yesterday & they said that they'd received them the day before (Tuesday 25 July) & posted them out. But nothing in the post today sad.gif . Hope they turn up tomorrow.

Well that sounds a bit more promising for me now. I took my exam on the 26th of june and still haven't got it back yet.

But by the timing of your results, the school where I took the exam should get it just before/just after this weekend and the results will be taken round rather than posted to my teacher's house so hopefully I should know by the start of next week.

Perhaps though I should stop being impatient and accept that they'll never turn up....and then they'll come tomorow rolleyes.gif

My son got his grade 5 cello results this morning from 3rd July. He got 138!!

Still waiting for the 13th July.

Results arrived just now, 2 distinctions - 1 grade 3 violin, 1 grade 5 violin. So very pleased with them both smile.gif .

Just got Matti's, a really credible 110/150.

One justifiably proud mum/teacher. Grade 1 singing at 7 is no mean feat!

I've been waiting for an ensemble exam from 6 July - checking online two or three times a day. Nothing up till yesterday (Friday) but today the certificates arrived in the post. Perhaps they don't put ensemble results online? It's the first time I've entered pupils for this so I don't know. But they got a distinction, so well worth the wait.

I am still awaiting a result from the 14th July, but that was only 2 weeks ago so I wouldn't expect to hear before the end of next week.

David

My piano pupils took their exams on the 14th July as well. I am still waiting for results. Was hoping they would be with me after the weekend. Don't think I can bear waiting til the end of next week

My friend and I both had exams on July 13th, and so did a bunch of my pupils. I'm hoping to hear in the coming week.

That is good news! What happened with the examiner? I remember your thread asking what to do when you know the examiner.

It turned out nearly every teacher knew the examiner. I just ran on the fact that it was me he knew not Matti, and it was Matti's exam. Then when I left the room, there was an acknowledgement of his imput into my earlier musical life (ie when I was in the Sixth Form) and I left Matti to do his sightreading and Aural.

Didn't think 18/18 for Aural was too bad!

Arrived home and the results envelope was there waiting for me! One distinction (grade three piano) and one merit (grade one theory). General happiness all round smile.gif

still waiting for my oboe results from 8th july... sad.gif ...no fair!

sherunsaway
Yay. I finally got my result after 5 weeks of waiting. Turns out the musical director had gone away on holiday before the results came.

Grade 8 violin merit. 121/150. biggrin.gif

So happy now......just hoping now that I've passed my grade 8 piano which I did on the 17th July. I ended up with the same examiner so just hoping he isn't too harsh and gives me something above 100.

The majority of my candidates took their exam on 13th July. I also did my Grade 1 Challenge. However, we haven't received the results yet. I think this is the longest I've ever had to wait. sad.gif

Mine are still not here from July 6th..........

Rang the board on Friday and they said they would send them that afternoon in the post and also put them online before the end of the day.

But they didn't appear online which made me CROSS - I hope they come in the post today, (Mon) but I'll believe it when I see it.

From what I can gather our Music Service have been chasing results too and there's a problem. Don't know if it's just ours though.

And a slightly mean examiner I think this on this occasion...but never mind. Swings and roundabouts.
