I am no way a horse racing fan, but the names they are given sometimes amuses me.
Most days there are one or two runners with musical names.
Looks like the one with the best chance today is Champagne Rossini in the 2.10 at Fakenham, if anyone likes a flutter. But I wont be responsible for any losses sustained. !
I wont be able to post runners on this thread every day, but may do so from time to time !

Ah well , it came third at 11- 1. Wouldnt have been bad as an each way bet !

We should all chip in £50 and buy a stake in a racehorse. We could then give it a forum-inspired name and have forum days out at the races when it is running.

Ideas for a name anyone? How about Linley's Pride after the infamous Lorna? wink.gif

Sorry none of those very inspiring, someone should be able to find something better.

My forum name is actually my horse's name tongue.gif

Kinda long story behind it though.....

Does it run ???......................

Forums trip to Newmarket racing, now that would be a laugh. The July Course is friendlier than the Rowley Mile, and if we plan it right we could make sure there was transport back to Chez JoD for a party afterwards.

Today we have MUSICAL BEAT running in the 4.20 at Goodwood. Doesnt look as though it has much chance though it did win its race before last.
petrat
One of my friends asks me to name her horses on odd occasions. The last one that used to be called "Baby" is nowregistered as "Babbino Caro". Don't try to place a bet on it though as it is a show jumper!
oboist
Surely there has to be a horse called "Forums Cafe" somewhere? I so, I bet it runs like demi-semi-quavers with plenty of long breaths and not too much staccato jumping. smile.gif

We have Amadeus Wolf with a good chance in the 3.15 at York today.

Also just spotted 'Finzi' running in the 4.35 at Exeter, but not among the fvaourites.
katyjay
Hmmm....The temptation to run a ten-bob accumulator on fsharpminor's choice of nags is almost overwhelming.

But only almost.

Actually Im not a betting man myself (Brought up Methodist !), rather just indicating horses with musical names in case anyone fancies a bet, but that Amadeus Wolf does look like it has a good chance...... I assume its a reference to Wolfgang Amadeus!
fsharpminor
AMADEUS WOLF romped home winner yesterday at 3 - 1

Finzi was unplaced.

Today we have MUSICAL LOCKET with a good chance in the 2.25 at Salisbury. One of its opponents is Cantique (an outsider)
flute fanatic
I reckon my nan would make a good runner for the Grand National (every year she's like a horse on c****) laugh.gif
fsharpminor
Today;'s musical horses running are ALLEGRETTO (2.45 York)
CRY PRESTO (3.30 Newbury) probably the best chance of the four
THE COMPOSER (4.05 Newbury)
HUGO WOLF (8.20 Aintree)
fsharpminor

Not much success yesterday sad.gif , just one second place. (ZACHS HARMONEY)

Today both GIUSEPPE VERDI (4.20 Beverley) and HIS MASTERS VOICE (5.10 Lingfield) might start favourites. A longer shot would be PENTATONIC (7.30 Leicester)

If no success today I will give up !
Miss Ross
Please don't give up fsharpminor sad.gif - I for one find this thread very interesting to read! (I knew nothing about horse racing before!)
biggrin.gif
fsharpminor
Well GIUSEPPE VERDI won at 15-8, and HIS MASTERS VOICE was second at 5-1. Thats a bit better biggrin.gif

Today CHAMPAGNE ROSSINI may start favourite for the 6.10 at Huntingdon.

FIDDLERS CREEK would be a relative outsider in the 6.50 at Sedgefield.
fsharpminor
Not had chance to check last few days, pity I didnt check yesterday as Allegretto won at 12 - 1, and Whozart at 9-2 (I guess thats musical?). Eisteddfodd also won at 7-2. Runner up to Whozart was Royal Composer (8 - 1) . Music Review was placed at 16-1,

However PIANO MAN (Brighton 3.45) looks a likely winner today, and may be favourite at about 7-2

Only other musical horse is HUCKING HARMONY (Beverley 7.20), not much fancied at around 16-1
fsharpminor
No luck yesterday.

Only possibility today is ORCHESTRATION (Lingfield 2.30) . Approx third favourite, maybe 11-2
fsharpminor
Not been on line for a few days, but today we have

ANGEL VOICES (Leicester 5.00) maybe 4-1 second favorite

PIANOFORTE (Thirsk 6.45) approx 12-1

HIS MASTERS VOICE (Windsor 7.30) 8-1, and has finished first or second in last three races.
fsharpminor
Todays musical horses are CONCERTMASTER (6.10 Kempton) has good chance !
MUSICAL SCRIPT (6.40 Kempton ) slight chance approx 10-1
STRAVINSKYS ART (3.00 Nottingham) even less chance approx 16-1
fsharpminor
CONCERT MASTER won on Wednesday.
Didnt get chance to look at the runners yesterday

We have GIUSEPPE VERDI running again today, Goodwood, 3.55.
It has already won for us. Could make it three wins in a row.

FINZI doesnt seem to have much chance in the 8.40 at Towcester.

fsharpminor
Well for my 1000th post, I can announce that PENTATONIC came second, though Musical Charm failed.

fsharpminor

notmusimum

My Dad would love this thread lol!
fsharpminor
Well we havent had too much success, and there doesnt seem to be too much interest either.

I cant guarantee to list the musical horses every day, but will do so when time permits.

Today we have BLUES MINOR (Sandown Park 2.10) odds estimate 7-2
LOCH VERDI (York 4.35) odds estimate 8-1
ORCHESTRATOR (Goodwood 6.50) an outsider
CRY PRESTO (Sandown Park 4.55) an outsider

fsharpminor
Though I didnt get chance to post weekend runners, would you believe

ROSE OF PETRA won yesterday, it was 11-4 jnt fav with another musical horse MUSICAL BEAT which was third

Will post todays runners later
fsharpminor
Several musical runners today, but perhaps only one with a good chance

That's 'OR SING ABOUT' (4.00 Hereford)

others less fancied :-

FIDDLERS SPIRIT (2.30 Hereford)
PENTHOUSE MELODY (3.30 Hereford)
FIRST RHAPSODY (4.45 Carlisle)
MUSIC CELEBRE (6.45 Warwoick)
fsharpminor
OR SING ABOUT won yesterday. The others were hopeless.
I havent a newspaper yet today, will try to post todays Musical Horses later
fsharpminor
Today we have BALAKIREF (5.45 Thirsk) May be second favourite at about 8-1 in a handicap race
BEL CANTOR (same race)

HUCKING HARMONY (7.00 Yarmouth) Fancied and possible favourite.

This is a really useful and enlightening thread biggrin.gif Thanks fsharpminor!
fsharpminor
HUCKING HARMONY was second at 3-1 yesterday.

Others unplaced, however BALAKIREF is listed again today in the 4.35 at Hamilton, approx 5-1 2nd fav.
I am surprised if its running on two consecutive days, but I havent established if it was a non-runner yesterday.

Also today two little fancied runners at Worcester L'APPRENTI SORCIER (4.45) ATLANTIC RHAPSODY(5.20)
fsharpminor
ATLANTIC RHAPSODY was third at 16-1 yesterday.

Lots today.

PRELUDE (5.45 Ripon) has perhaps the best chance

Rest dont look to be much fancied.

ALLEGRETTO (Ascot 3.45)
OPERA MUSIC (Ascot 4.20)
TRINITY COLLEGE (Ascot 4.55)
PICCOLO PRINCE (Beverley 6.30)
BEL CANTOR (Ripon 2.45)
PIANOFORTE (Ripon 5.10) Note Ripon was waterlogged yetsrday, so meeting could be cancelled again

fsharpminor
A complete failure yesterday !

Nothing really stands out today.

Best chance is probaby MAHLER (4.55 Ascot) approx 7-1 third favourite
SECRET TUNE is in same race

Also running SONG OF PASSION (5.30 Ascot)
MUSIC REVIEW (3.20 Redcar)
MAGICAL MUSIC (6.00 Newbury)
GRAND SYMPHONY (7.40 Newbury)
fsharpminor
MAHLER won at 7-1 on Friday.

Havent got a newpaper this morning and will be out most of the day. If anyone else wants to post today's musical runner's ?????
fsharpminor
Got a paper now.

Two reasonable chances today VIBRATO (4.00 Musselburgh)
DIMINUTO (4.15 Wolverhampton) well its near enough diminuendo!
fsharpminor
No luck yesterday

Today best chance is GEESTRING tongue.gif (Newbury 7.05)

outsider musical horses are :-

FLUTERS HOUSE (Brighton 3.00)
TOCCATA (Newbury 8.40)
DRUMMING PARTY (Newbury 9.10)

fsharpminor
GEESTRING romped home , winner at 5-1 yesterday

Todays best chance is KYRIE ELEISON (Kempton 6.50)

Also with a fair chance CANTIQUE (Bath 7.10)

also running MUSICAL GIFT (Bath 8.10)
fsharpminor
All failed miserably yesterday.

No really fancied musical horses today, following have slight chances:-

MOODY TUNES (Newcastle 3.00)
FINAL TUNE (3.10 Yarmouth)
MUSICAL CHIMES (3.20 Warwick)

I cannot perceive if anyone is interested in this thread. It takes time to sift through all the runners each day. My inclination at the moment is not now to post every day, but just occasionally when I see a musical horse that has a good chance (ie favourite or near favourite). Im not normally on line at weekends anyway.

Any comments welcome, or am I 'flogging a dead horse' to quote an old Yorkshire saying.
petrat
I am sure that lots of us read your musical horses, even if we don't actually place bets. Keep it up Old Bean!
