Sorry to break up the chocolate party, but please could we try and keep this thread relevant to its original intentions.
Having discussed this (potential) musical social gathering with several people, it would seem that a SUNDAY in OCTOBER would be preferable for many. With this in mind I have decided to rename it 'Autumn Colours'

Do you have a particular date in mind yet?

If participants wish to play music related to autumn, great, if not, then it doesn't matter. Play whatever you want - providing the piece doesn't exceed the 5 minute maximum length.
I just want the event (if it goes ahead) to be very informal and enjoyable, rather than the more formal format that Adult Learner concerts usually have.
If people would like to post their availabilty, it would help gauge the best weekend to book.

A Sunday in October......
erm... could do the 7th, 14th, 21st or 28th.
Oh good, that's all of them.

This is a lovely idea. I realise that many people are busy in December; however, I would love to do this on a Saturday in early December if possible.
However, if you're looking at October, then I could do any weekend but the first.

Including my own. This is why I need to look so far ahead - as a freelancer, weekends tend to bring the bulk of playing work and I tend to get bookings coming in several months in advance, especially from regulars. Organising something like an adult learners concert a couple of months before it happens, is not an option for me.

If any of the pianists are ready for some swift fingerwork they might like to try Chaminade's
Automne which used to be very popular but I haven't heard it for ages.

In principle I would be happy to help with any necessary accompanying. I'm not available on the 14th, and am very likely to be away for some of our half-term week which has 21st and 28th at either end, but won't know until nearer the time if we shall be away for either of the Sundays.

I might have something else on on the 28th but it's not definite. So given the choice, I'd prefer to avoid this date if possible, but if it's the best date for everyone else, I'd like to come anyway and miss the other thing. It sounds as if it will be a lovely gathering

so the question here is.....
a ) shall I be a 'proper' adult learner and sing at this event,
b ) shall I be an 'almost proper' adult learner and play the recorder,
c ) shall I not be an adult learner at all and play the clarinet,
or
d ) do all the above.

That's the main reason I haven't expressed an interest so far. I wasn't sure through my (undoubtably patchy) reading whether there would be any possibilities for a singer or pianist, which are my only adult learner instruments. If there are, I'm interested.

Whoever would like to attend, whether they technically classify themselves as an adult learner or not, would be very welcome.

I'll leave it to somebody more advanced to take up playing a duet with you Barry, but I'd love to play in a small ensemble, any style of music

But if there are any beginner/intermediate people going, perhaps we could get together to play a beginners duet/trio, if there are sufficient slots available

I will need advice though on what to prepare for the day as I haven't a clue what would be nice for people to listen to or I could join into a string quartet or something

I'd be interested - in both Summer and Christmas. I love Christmas music and Christmas get togethers, so would be particularly keen on the latter.
I'd prefer it to be later - nov / dec. But realistically my life is incredibly up in the air at the minute, so I can't commit to particular dates. I'll fit in with what other people do.
