Anyone know the syllabus for 2005 grade 8 exam? And which pieces for grade 8 exam would you recommend?

the ab have recently posted the new string syllabus on the website. it looks ok. i like the Mozart in list a, brahms in list b, and not sure on list c. anyone else got a preference?

I'm sitting mine in easter '05, but will be using the '04 syllabus. i'm going to play Haydn Concerto in G 1st mvmt, Ravel Concerto in G 2nd mvmt, and Suk 'Appassionata' from Four Pieces.

Also, I'm finding the harmonic progression in the Suk piece quite difficult sometimes, does anyone else feel like really 'national' music is like another language?!!

the Suk makes more sense when you play with the piano accompaniment - have you tried this yet?

Tried the Suk a couple of times early on, but struggling to secure a pianist at the moment

Have you got a recording of it? I have an early recording of Ginette Nevue and her brother playing, but haven't come across another artist yet.
