Myself, my sister and our four cousins (all brothers, one pair twins) all have birthdays in March, and also our daughter born was born on my birthday.
So my late grandma had all 6 grandchildren and her first great grandchild with March birthdays. Two of her later grandchildren are March and early April (my son). Had she been here, her first great great grandchild (our first grandchild) was born 6th April this year, but due date was 28th March. smile.gif

We don't have any March birthdays at all laugh.gif

I was born in February. My parents were aiming for a Christmas baby but it took a bit longer than hoped to get me started laugh.gif
I said to a friend once that I was supposed to be an Xmas baby and he said 'early or late?' and I said, oh, early, I was born a month before I was intended to be conceived rolleyes.gif blink.gif tongue.gif laugh.gif

I wonder how many of those with birthdays this week were brought into being during New Year revelry?

OH had a birthday yesterday and no matter how much I jam my fingers in my ears and squeeze my eyes shut I cannot rid myself of the vision.........

My siblings and I worked out once that 4 of us were the result of the annual seaside holiday and the other was probably my Dad's birthday present. blush.gif
I also have a neice and a godchild who are the indirect product of my wedding reception. laugh.gif

Nature abhors a vacuum - and so do I.

My 5 month old Hoover gave up the ghost on Monday. Following a rather unpleasant experience with Hoover customer services I'm about to buy a Sebo as replacement. How sad that until it appears I'm unable to do any vacuuming! tongue.gif

Ooh, my nice new Sebo arrived today! I actually had fun trying it out - it's always good to play with a new toy, and when vacuum cleaners are new the air smells great when you're using them. biggrin.gif The only snag is it cost me about 3 times as much as the Hoover, but then again the guarantee is 5 times as long!

I have a friend whose father is a lorry driver. Does that help?

LOL JudithJ!

I sent this guy a message on facebook, saying that I'd dreamed that his father was a womanising German lorry-driver (in fact his latest conquest was Clint Eastwood's ex...). He replied a) that I was crazy and b) that his father is actually a Lithuanian transvestite tightrope walker.

Am at work today with one colleague and our manager.
Manager has gone off to the gym for lunchtime.
Colleague has disappeared while I was in the ladies! I know he brings a packed lunch, but there are at least three places he could be sitting to eat it, in addition to the sandwich bar and the main restaurant. Chances of me finding him are slim.
Still, me and my Kindle will go and enjoy lunch together, it just is quite amusing to come all this way for zero socialising smile.gif

Why do builders have to make so much noise and mess when they are working, when it would be so easy to do the job quietly and cleanly? unsure.gif

And why do they think it is such a great honour to put up with their noise and mess, and to have everything covered in dust and mud? rolleyes.gif

Why does everybody else have to work around builders, but builders are unable to work around anyone else?

Are they trying to prove their worth by making their presence felt to as many people as possible?

I just tried to vacuum my flat for the first time. I dug the vacuum cleaner out of the cupboard, rather impressed to find a Dyson. A rather old looking Dyson, in 4 pieces. Having used Dyson's before, and knowing how temperamental they can be, I decided I'd better try and track down an instruction manual. So I checked the model number. DC01.

Hmm... I thought. That's a very old one.

A few moments later on the Dyson website I found the instructions. Yay! Then I realised. This vacuum cleaner is the first ever Dyson. It is nearly as old as I am and, to my great astonishment it still works. Ish.

My flat comes with its own contemporary museum piece! blink.gif

Anyway: I'll be buying a handheld vacuum cleaner asap. I wanted one for cleaning out my car, and this ancient suction monter is much to unweidy for such a small flat. It weighs a tonne, and has an irritating habit of depositing a big pile of dust when you switch it off.

Have I ever mentioned how much I hate renting.
Babybird2
I quite like renting, no need to worry about having to pay for stuff when it breaks laugh.gif

Saying that, I have good landlords. They are the inlaws... which also has a downside because we get a lot of grief for not cleaning enough tongue.gif . Maybe owning a house wouldn't be so bad....
Misti
I used to rent from my not-yet-in-laws, which was fine. Now, I'm renting an agency managed property, which is a bit of a disaster.

Definitely need an alternative to this though; the model is so old its pre-HEPA filters featuring in vacuum cleaners. I'm allergic to dust, and I think this monster might just kill me off. *Wheeze*

Am slightly bemused by the growing trend of relatively new posters resurrecting old (and boy do I mean old) threads. Don't be afraid to start new ones.
Misti
I dunno. Every time someone starts a thread relating to finding an upgrade flute in the VivaWoodwind forum, the first comments tends to be "do a search, we've had this topic 1001 times, and can't really add much to the sound advice already written out at depth". Obviously, this is put more politely, and specific questions can be answered in a new thread; and newer forumites may well have new perspectives to add... but I'm inclined to think Newbies using the search function can be a good thing.

Right up, that is, til they resurrect a thread containing one of my embarassing posts from when I was 15, and first started using the forum! blush.gif

I turned our gas boiler off in June. With the cost of gas being so high we thought we would see how long we could go without it. biggrin.gif Now into the third week of September........... I wonder how much longer we can keep this up? unsure.gif

We are all getting used to living at a slightly lower temperature, and somehow it is nice being warm together in the kitchen or around the fire in the lounge, and the rest of the house being a bit cooler.

Many independent weather forecasters are predicting snow as early as October this year, (and they have been right for the past two winters), so our drive to save the planet may be short lived. snowflake.gif snowflake.gif snowflake.gif
