The most annoying thing about bar work is that it's so hard to shut down after you get in from work. I am actually really tired but I feel really awake....
Edit: Or maybe it's the fact that I had some 'real' coffee at 9pm to keep me going....

We have lost far too many forumites this year, at far too quick a rate. There's always people who will arrive, and people who will go, in any musical organisation, but those going seem to be outstripping the arrivals at the moment.

I am for some reason an optimist - no idea why - make no mistake, I miss all those who have gone, but I think and hope that new people will join too. Maybe we may get a spate of new arrivals that outstrip the departures at some point.

The analogy I always think of is my concert band (23 years there and counting

). We go through periods of stability, periods of several departures, and periods of several arrivals, often over months. The forum has at the moment been going through a departure phase, and really has been since skylark and The Old Lady left in December last year. But I'm sure the tide will turn in time.

To me, Nielsen is kind of a sort of a fusion between Sibelius, Tchaikovsky and Delius.

Like Dvorak. Don't know enough Delius to say.... Used to like Tchaikovsky but went off him after Radio 3 one year did a whole fortnight of Tchaikovsky in the lead-up to Christmas. I felt like I'd eaten too many sweets and just couldn't stomach any more after that.

I just phoned a call centre, got the usual "calls may be recorded for administrative purposes" stuff. During the conversation, I had to give some credit card details.
And the man said "I am now stopping recording to protect your financial details", we did the credit card info and he said "And now I will start recording again".
Absolutely fine, but now I'm wondering how many companies
have ever recorded my info...I kind of forget the 'calls may be recorded' bit

Nov 24 2011, 03:04 PM
Well, yes, I guess I always
unthinkingly assume that - like when I've phoned up to pay someone, and I hear them say 'recorded or monitored'. It's just I've never put together the 'recorded and monitored' with 'reading out my credit card details' before.
Probably just means nobody actually was recording before, at least not until you turn in to a nasty customer and they press the 'record this moron' button

Ordered some 2nd-hand organ music from Molyneux by mail order and the card from the postman popped through the door the other day saying that the package had been taken to the depot because it was too big to go through the letterbox. (Story of my life)
When it was collected today there, as plain as day at the bottom of the address label in letters the same size as the rest, was the legend "Leave on back doorstep".
Bah! Bet it's because they couldn't be bothered to walk a few yards down the drive.
