I keep getting emails from Saga, offering me insurance and holidays at a discounted rate because of my age

I've never had an email from Saga, ever...
I started to receive mailings from them after my 50th - I always exclude myself from 'marketing opportunities' on anything I use so I don't know how they sussed that one.

Friend of mine just had a daughter and posted this on Facebook. I left him a comment saying "Congratulations", and the person right after me who left the same message is my ex whom I don't talk to any more

Nothing bad, just a bit unexpected to see that particular name which I haven't thought of for years.

I get cold-callers in France trying to sell me things for pensioners because my name (although common in the UK) is very old-fashioned in France. I once had someone accuse me of being senile and not remembering how old I was and another one telling me I shouldn't be ashamed of my age

I must say I find the Duchess of Cambridge much easier on the eye than David Cameron, Nick Clegg, the Milliband brothers, Angela Merkel or any others we often see on our front pages.
And she smiles most of the time.

I always used to like the sweet smile of Princess Diana - compared to the ugly smirk of Margaret Thatcher.
Blu-ray = similar to a DVD but in full 1080 high resolution. BBC and ITV both have vids of the Royal Wedding but no Blu-rays. Pity, you can see every single strand of Boris's hair in 1080 res!

Somehow I always think Angela Merkel would look more at home chairing a PCC meeting than running one of the world's biggest economies.
I would far rather bump in to Sarah Palin on a dark night, but I wouldn't want to discuss [her brand of] politics.

Whilst we're on the subject of odious right-wing extremists, Ann Widdecombe and 'denizens of the night' have a similarity about them, even Michael Howard noticed it, which convinced me that yes Conservatives DO get it right on some issues....

I fear they get it right more often than we like to admit; it's just that we don't like what they say. After all, we all enjoy freebies and government hand-outs, which I am sure must earn a lot of votes in some constituencies, but when the money is spent and times get hard it is usually left to a Tory to give the bad news.
Unfortunately there are too many vested interests in all colours of politics, and in business too.
