Take an antihistamine and see whether it does anything. Although, that might not be that reliable - I find them useless sometimes.

I think I need to do 10 minute sessions, and just play to get me back into it...

Then they went and spoiled it by putting in the TV listings things that gave the game away.

Why, oh why is 'Jif' now called 'Cif'...
BerkshireMum
It's been called Cif for years now, Barry - you can't get through much of it if you've only just discovered the change of name! biggrin.gif

I believe it's something to do with marketing it in different countries where Jif perhaps doesn't mean anything, but Cif does. Once a product is established here, they can afford to change the name because of brand loyalty, but to get something going abroad, they needed a snappier name in that language.

Yes, I *think* in foreign countries it might have always have been Cif.

Courtesy of Wikipedia:

Cif is a brand of cleaning products by Unilever, known as Jif in Australia, New Zealand, and the Nordic countries.

The product was known as Jif in Great Britain, Ireland, the Netherlands and Hong Kong until 2001 when the name was changed to Cif in order to harmonise marketing and product inventories across the continent, though British advertisements stated that the change was made because Hispanics and France couldn't pronounce Jif properly (it's pronounced 'hif' in Castilian).[citation needed]

In Sweden and Great Britain the products were sold under the name Vim before this was changed to Jif - the name Cif thought to be too reminiscent of syphilis to English speakers.[citation needed]

In Belgium and Portugal, the product was known as Vim for quite some time, after which it became Cif. In Canada and India, it is still called Vim. In Germany, the cleaner's name is Viss. To add to the confusion, in Turkey the product's name Cif is pronounced 'Jif'.

do you remember when it was 'Vim'?
came in cardboard dispensers - so that when you kept it in the bathroom it got damp and you had to buy more before you had used it all up! Marketing ploy?

I agree Barry... you can't do the cleaning "in a cif" can you? Or get it done in a "ciffy" !

My sister asked me to get something from there a few weeks ago, but it turned out not to be what she wanted so I had to take it back (25 minute wait rolleyes.gif) and then go and get the right thing. I really hate going there, but as I walk round I have to reluctantly concede that they have some really funky stuff there, much of which is dirt cheap and on the occasions when I've meandered instead of (trying to) get straight in and out, I've come out with a load of stuff that I'd never thought of buying before I went in (a bit like Lakeland) biggrin.gif

I do enjoy going there, and buying things I don't need and then thinking what to do with them when I get home. A while ago, I bought a little old-fashioned wind-up alarm clock. It was very loud, and my dad kept putting it in strategic locations and making it go off during the day. This annoyed me, and for some reason I don't seem to have been back since... rolleyes.gif
