I've just found something about Teesdale on iplayer. Not quite as good as something about my beloved Weardale, but it's still good to see our area there.

When we got to 6th form, alcohol featured A LOT - teachers were forever taking us out and drinking. In fact, I was even given wine and champagne in school, during lunches with the headmistress. I was really stumped with that one....did I drink it to be polite and look like an alcholic, or recoil in horror and look rude. Easy solution...ask for water as well

The 'Octagonal Room' at Greenwich Observatory was fine but would have been enhanced, in my view, had it contained a piano!

The comment of a friend of mine on seeing a photo of me at 16:

"Wow! Back then you were pretty!"

What an odd thing for a friend to say!

What's wrong with having different colours of nail polish on each foot?! I've had them for about a week now and almost everybody in the office had to make comments...

Haha thanks. I didn't stay silent, I did ask "you mean... as opposed to now?". The response was just "oh yes, you look a million times better there". The thing is, I'm not sure how to respond as it was all said in a rather innocent way - as though people wouldn't take offense at that... As though I wasn't expected to take offense. Very strange.



Nothing - it's really cool, but you should go one step further and have a different colour on every other toe.

I suppose you would say nothing at all if someone came into the office wearing odd socks, or a different shoe on each foot?

A boss of mine many years ago came in to the office wearing one slip-on and one lace-up shoe, though they were the same colour !

This afternoon, our IT teacher was telling us about the New Year's party where she had got drunk in front of some of her sons friends (her ex-pupils)!

Did the attendant have an answer? I know people used to celebrate their name day rather than their birthday in mediaeval times, i.e. they would celebrate on the saint's day whose name they shared.

We still have a mouse in our car after six days Humane trap is being set but the cheeky animal seems to be getting the food without tripping the trap!! Luckiliy he has food I don't want the poor thing starving.

Whilst not wishing to panic you , mice can cause havoc in a car. If they dont have anything to eat , they will chew wires and completely mess up the electrics. There have been several reports of this. So get rid of it as soon as possible. !

Had a mouse in the house, it got it within 2 nights. I know it sounds cruel, but you really have to think how much damage a mouse could cause, they are also prolific urinators/defecators so your car is not really going to be a very hygeinic place!

I tried humane traps for several weeks without success beforehand

Lucky OH is an auto electrician really then! Think he may have escaped yesterday, the food is still in place. Double checking tonight with chocolate (his favourite) then may have to rethink. The problem is I kept pet rodents (rats, chinchillas) before so can't bear the idea of killing him Hopefully he's run back off into a field where he belongs then I can get the car valeted
