What I found disconcerting (still find disconcerting) about playing a grand is how far away the sound is- every time I play one, I feel like the sound is just going nowhere and is quite soft- and then I'm told it sounds fine from the audience. It could well be that what sounds forte to the audience doesn't sound forte to you.

Also, the piano itself, if it is new, will need time to settle. It may feel very different in a year's time.

I eventually had to delete 'katyjay' from my phone as she so often nearly got messages meant for my husband - whose name starts with an L. katyjay was the second k in my address book, I was used to pressing the JKL button twice for it to get to my husband, and instead it would land on katyjay. Not that it was ever anything interesting, but I'm sure katyjay would not have needed messages to let her know I was just leaving work/musiclesson/SRP/etc smile.gif

Hehe - I have a similar configuration (other half's phone number is one off from katyjay's entry) but so far have managed to avoid sending katyjay any inane messages about the state of the cat or random work-related whinges, as other half's phone number is always in the "most recently used" section.

At least, I think blink.gif I have managed to avoid it..

I've got a terrible reputation for doing this...
My mam had the best case of mistaken contact identity though...she went out to the shops, and my dad had asked her to get crispy duck for tea. She gets to the shop and phones him, saying only "Were you serious about crispy duck?" to which she got a VERY confused "I'm sorry?" turned out she had phoned her boss by accident rofl.gif

FORUM EXISTENTIALISM: Is it just in my head or has overall Forum discussion (especially more serious and varied musical discussion) dwindled a lot recently? I miss clavicembalo. sad.gif

FORUM TRIVIA: Did you know that the longest-standing members who are still active on the Forum are our very own shboa, along with less prolific but still active JulieCSM? smile.gif

Worst I've had was a friend texting me accidentally with the details of the hotel 'we' were to be meeting in........ very embarrassing for him as the message wasn't intended for either me or his wife. As a good friend of his wife as well everything became somewhat difficult for a while!

I miss clavi too sad.gif Discussion has slipped a bit recently, I feel. We're doing quite well in woodwind land, and the string area's still pretty active, and the organ forum seems to be doing well too. The event side has also snowballed. The forum that's seemed very quiet of late is GMF, and that's a shame.
