Re. the Porsche. My favourites have always been the flat six air-cooled engines. When you've got an engine sound like that to listen to, who would want a stereo. So I went in search of a good 964 variant because they are a classic 911, but also quite practical in terms of a modern gearbox, ABS, PAS etc.
Eventually bought a 1990 G plate, Targa roof, just 87,000 on the clock with full Porsche service history.
The colour? Speed Yellow. Apart from a Ferrari or a Lamborghini, it's one of very few cars you can own in yellow that actually looks good. Wheels are the 17" turbo type and in black. It looks the business and goes like the proverbial off a shovel!! Will need to be careful I don't pick up points on my licence
Additionally, the car will feature in a 2011 release film
Tamara Drewe, starring Gemma Arterton (Io in the recent,
Clash of the Titans) and Dominic Cooper (Willoughby in the BBC adaptation of Jane Austen's
Sense And Sensibility).
The character Ben (Dominic Cooper) a former pop band drummer drives the car and described as an "unshaven layabout, with a rank philosophy and a yellow Porsche". The film is loosely based on the Hardy novel,
Far From The Madding Crowd and brought up to the present day.
I didn't actually find this out until I'd bought the car. I'm half tempted to contact the film promoters closer to the time and ask if they'd like it on the red carpet at the UK premier in London - for a fee of course and it would have to be trailered to the event, not driven. In order to preserve the car in its pristine condition and for insurance reasons, I've opted to limit the annual mileage. So it's going to be my summertime toy and put into professional storage in the winter.
Purchase has been enabled courtesy of a cash sum I was left by my aunt.
So what will I drive around as a daily car? Well yes the very practical Volvo Estate is going and it will be replaced with a....

.........you'll just have to watch this space

I'm a petrol-head at heart, so it won't be anything boring or remotely run-of-the-mill that's for sure

EDIT: the harp will have to go in the boyfriend's van. He just doesn't know that yet
