I got a rather off hand email from a pupil informing me that she wouldn't be coming to her last two lessons before her exam as she has rehearsals for her dance show. No point in contacting mother as she speaks very little French and this young teenager is more or less bringing herself up. I wrote back carefully explaing that I was quite prepared for her to miss one of the two lessons but not both. I explained that if she does two activities she and her teachers must compromise. I then got a bit sharp and said if she was absent for both lessons I would withdraw her from the exam.
This morning I got a reply. She has said she will be absent next week but will definitely be present for her last lesson and for her exam and that she would do so "with responsibility and pleasure." I was very happy to read that and if she is as good as her word I think it may be one of life's lesson learned as well. This has restored my faith in this pupil as I have felt her "wobbling" off the straight and narrow over the last term.

How wonderful!
I am looking forward to a bath on Sunday morning - our bathroom has been renovated. Three weeks ago we went on holiday for a week, during which most of the work was supposed to be done. Of course, things got delayed, so the two weeks since we have been back from holiday, we have been nipping round to my mum's to have a shower. Today we officially have a bath with shower over that we can use, and a toilet (luckily we have another one of those downstairs, so we haven't had to cross our legs for a fortnight!)
But yes, can't wait to try out the bath! Must be almost as good as being able to walk

Once every six weeks or so I go to a Big supermarket (aside from the tiddly local one). I sometimes buy a wee treat so today for lunch I had a pea-and-endamame bean salad with mint dressing mmmmmm
Trouble is, now I feel really sleepy (I don't usually eat lunch because of this!

) so should I also treat myself to a power-nap???
Now before you accuse me of decadent indulgence I worked from 7am - 6.30 yesterday then from 10-11pm then did my viola practice from 11- midnight.
I was back at it at 7am today.... and have just ground to a halt on the sofa (where it's cool) so really I should go and get on with my framing/painting/designing....

Nap - definitely!
Nothing wrong with napping. Yesterday I got two lovely naps, one on the tube on the way to work, and one on the tube on the way back. Good job I only do that journey once a week

Though I do often nap on a Saturday and/or Sunday afternoon.

I was unimpressed with him. Looked like what one might do in their bedroom after too many drinks!
Cooking and eating a lovely meal to thank 2 of MrB's mother's neighbours who have been fantastic whilst she's been immobile with a broken leg. Without them I would have gone completely nuts over the last couple of months.

Hi everyone,
It was yesterday that made me feel happy. I went shopping with my best friend to the Trafford Centre & we made a full day of it. We had an absolute ball & I got made to feel special in nearly every store we went in, apart from one. I had a mini makeover and my eyelashes curled, as well as receiving a compliment from a sales advisor on how polite and well mannered I am. I managed to treat my violin to a Vivienne Westwood cover to her clean as well as to add a personal touch

Yes

roti canai is the best breakfast in the world. And that is why I am trying to learn how to make it. Mr Corenfa loves it too. If you want to have a go, the recipe and technique described on that page really does work. I substituted Tesco plain flour (10.3 % protein) and Stork margarine. If you really want to have a go, feel free to PM me! I've discovered quite a few things but don't want to spam the whole forum.

I miss the days when I used to be bored and stare aimlessly into space after finishing exams early... granted, I still spend time staring into space during exams, but now it's usually out of panic and/or having absolutely no idea what to do

That happened to me 4 years ago in My GCSEs during my IT exam. I did full course and the exam was painfully easy. I completed it in half the time and had at least an hour of thinking why they couldn't have made the question a little more time consuming.

Hi everyone,
This one might be a strange one, but I bumbed into my Deputy Headteacher from primary school and his wife today while I was work. I was very lucky to have them both to teach me, and his wife was one of my supply Maths teachers when I was secondary school but she didn't remember me, but to be fair she did only teach me the once. I've never seen a old school teachers face light up as much as his today and I also got a hug of him, which was nice. But as soon as I said his name, he said mine back in surprise. So we had a bit a chat and he asked how I was doing.
This happened at the time when we needed some more carrier bags as we'd ran out, and I was just going to get some. So definatly worth the trip across the store.
