i dont have the sheet music for this one, but going by the g8 cd, somthing along the lines of dotted crotchet=60 (assuming it's in 3/8 time)
sbhoa
Is there a performance direction on there which might give an indication?
I wouldn't tie myself down to a speed in this way but go with what sounds/feels right once you've got it properly up and running (limping/strolling).
A musically convincing performance can often happen at a surprising variety of speeds.

Doesn't say anything at all. Not even any performance notes at the end of the book. It's in 12/8 time.

ph34r.gif well i never was that great at telling time signatures lol

one of the main bar divisions is about 60 though, you just have to work out which one, but i guess that won't be too hard. although as sbhoa said, it can probably be played at a whole range of different speeds and still be affective.

Sarah - how long does the track last on your recording?
The piece is 39 bars long, so 156 dotted crotchet beats in total.
So, if you can turn up a track length, a bit of very simple arithmetic should yield the MM for that particular recording.

2 minutes, 33 seconds, so... almost exactly dotted crotchet = 60 (well, 61.17)

I'll aim roughly for that then. Give or take a few nths of a second! biggrin.gif
Thanks to all.
