Today?

I'm currently painting small oil portraits of cake for an exhibition I'm having next month.

I've just finished the one with three Mr Kipling French Fancies in it and prompty made a cup of tea and sat down and ate them. blush.gif

laugh.gif Well it was research!!!!!! (I had to make sure I had the correct light falling on the flavours!)

(Now off to paint three slices of battenburg...... quickly wink.gif muahaha.gif )

smile.gif That's reminded me of year 7 art when we drew Mr Kipling cakes...except we drew/painted the same cakes for 6 weeks, so there was no eating them at the end! ill.gif

Today is going quite nicely...done decent amounts of practice on both instruments (got up early for the piano as my brother had 4 12 year olds staying over and the Wii is in the same room as the piano. Didn't actually have to worry as they weren't up til 9 rolleyes.gif ) and quite soon I'm going out for rehearsals and then a school concert this evening. smile.gif

Exhausting - the final assessment day with a lovely group of seven students doing a Roehampton certificate in Primary Music Education (Kodály) - watching, assessing, marking their videos of their teaching plus other written assignments - just a 20min break between 10am and 6pm - PHEW.

Going to chill-out Big Time now!

*wonders if the ice-cream van will come round*

Today was pretty fun.
I went round to my friend's house to revise, and we baked a cake smile.gif He dicided to make a chocolate orange sponge, without using any recipe whatsoever....he's never made anything before!
Surprisingly it turned out not too bad, and we had such a laugh making it smile.gif
And we managed to revise Hamlet quotes while we baked! Multi tasking biggrin.gif

Sounds like my kind of revision biggrin.gif

I had a fairly productive morning, got a fair amount of History revision done as well as some violin, then spent most of the afternoon sitting in the park in the sun on a little jetty thing over a stream with my friend and chatting. It was such as nice afternoon, the weather was gorgeous, the stream was lovely and clear and not too cold and it was nice to have the time to just sit and chat smile.gif
Feeling really happy and very chilled out now happy.gif

Great smile.gif

Went to the races again... the weather was brilliant.
Me and my Dad didnt win anything... but it was still fun.
My Mum and my sister did though smile.gif
Then we went out for some tea.
Then we were all out in the garden... I was revising though sad.gif but still at least it was nice.

Extremely dull mostly! Revising, ironing, making polite conversation with my grandmother (who used to be so diplomatic, and I know she doesn't mean some of her more scathing comments, but still... sad.gif) and now I'm looking forward to the prospect of going to bed.

weird, scary and long.
i met this rastafarian at college who started (with absolutely no warning - i've never met him before) warning me about all the gay and lesbian people in first year. his words were, "don't let them take control of you". and he definitely said something about flames and burning, but i was too gobsmacked to concentrate on that bit.

then - the good bit - i managed to practise for quite a while. then i went to see the shrink and almost threw up i was so scared. it hasn't worn off yet, darnit. then i had to sprint a mile or two back in time for orchestra and arrived dripping. actually someone spotted me before the last hill, so i got a lift and steamed up the entire car. then orch/ensemble rehearsal from 5 until 10.

that was a weird day.

Draining...

It was my last day of school, cue much madness, fairy cakes, chalking on the pavements, marker pen on shirts/arms/faces/anywhere, raucus singing, balloons and general madness. Generally a good and not too emotional day... until in our leavers assembly our drama teacher had made a leaving video for us with shots of the school and all of us and our teachers holding whiteboards saying on them what we would miss. Our maths teacher of five years came up and her whiteboard mentioned our class, which had been rather special, and I just welled up. Was crying walking up out of school... well alot of us were by then sad.gif

Then I got on the bus and got hit by water bombs and pieces of orange during the bus journey home dry.gif

Feel like a bit of a hypocrite actually... last year I was standing there saying how silly it was that everyone was getting all emotional when they were going to probably see each other tomorrow, then I was vrying my eyes out rolleyes.gif But I get it - It's not about not seeing people or about actually leaving, it's about the fact that everything's changing and it's never going to be the same again... which in some ways is a good thing, but it's still a massive change. mellow.gif

I was the same - even when people from my year were upset I wondered why on earth they were so bothered. An hour or so later, and I was sitting cross-legged on a wall crying. I think that was more inspired by the 'Fiona, if you don't become a famous musician I will come to your house and chastise you!' comment though. laugh.gif
Are you going to college now then, D_F?

As for my day... It started off badly when I got into a total panic about my English exam in the very early hours of the morning, so I woke up later than I had planned. Did some last minute cramming in the sunshine and decided that even if I failed, it wasn't the end of the world, before going in and actually being able to answer the question. rolleyes.gif I went out with my parents tonight, which was really nice. smile.gif So yes, a pretty good day.

Better, than yesterday, which gives me hope that tomorrow may be better still .......

There was quite a lot emotion at my school yesterday - I guess you take things for granted until they change...

I have to say I agree with that last statement.... I hope everyone is ok.

Today my OH and I drove 300 miles (round trip) to a huge formal funeral. We were dressed in black all day too and the scenery was gorgeous. I had bought the prettiest little white cotton hanky with a lace edge but I held it together and was okay. I even took a spare hanky in case anyone else needed it but everyone was very up-beat. OH and I just sat and held hands and trembled a bit.

On the way home we stopped in a very pretty little village. We sat in a tea-shop, dressed in black, and ate buns and talked about absolutely nothing significant. When we got back we walked the dogs in the woods and then ate a huge Indian meal, watched a TV program about serial killers, and now we're both exhausted and going to bed to read the new magazines we bought in the village.

Altogether an unusual day.

Oh, and Benson.. don't worry about shrinks - they can't control your mind wacko.gif laugh.gif

Had an exam, and everything I revised / memorised for wasn't in the paper. How ironic the only time I properly memorise something for my degree it doesn't actually come up, and I still have to resort to deriving things from first principals and general blagging biggrin.gif

My day was good but I could do with a few more hours of it.

I've always thought a 30-hour day would be much more practical length than 24 hours biggrin.gif

Well, quite! Sarah123 for PM.

Just put my chickens out to discover that my prized white silkie cockerel has been eaten by the local fox. I also had one of my beautiful Indian Runner Ducks eaten this week too sad.gif Think I will be borrowing my neighbours rifle very shortly.
However, hopefully today will be better - I have a chick due to hatch today!! hurrah.gif

Mine has not been so good and that has been entirely your fault.
Miss Ross
I started work properly today. It was horrid. I probably wouldn't have minded so much if there had been anything to do but sitting waiting for something to happen for over 8 hours got to me a bit. Ah well, at least I have a French exam tomorrow to look forward to. wacko.gif

Busy busy busy!

good luck tomorrow, Miss Ross! I mean ... bonne chance!

Better than anticipated (which is always the best way round).
