I know I'm not on here much any more (I will come back I promise!), but those of you who remember me might be interested to know that I'm now finally Dr Meerkat. It's been a very long hall, but I defended my thesis last year, and have been awarded my phd.

Ah - a real doctor: Congratulations - we medical types tend to forget that historically our "doctor" titles are honorary (as physicians), ours being mere graduate degrees, whereas you had to work for yours as a postgraduate degree. In consequence I am always more impressed by a PhD than an MBBS (or their equivalents).

Well done you!
Being surrounded by real Doctors, the one thing they all agree on was that actually submitting they're thesis was the thing that clinched it. So long-hall or no you did the research, actually wrote it up, did the viva and got there.
Many fall by the wayside Meerkat, but you didn't.
Congratulations.

It's been an interesting week. Some of you probably know it's been a very tough year. Well, in the last fornight, I've done my first recital, got my phd, and this morning found I've lost a total of 100lb - which is a LOT of weight! Feels like a real time for turning lives around.
