Your commitments sound similar to mine with regards to pupils, kids and husband, plus I work part time and have 2 Sunday organist jobs.
Did you have difficulty fitting the course in with everything else? I am on the taster day next weekend and am worried about finding time to do it all.

It was quite time consuming, I must admit, and emotionally draining also! The assignments and projects can be quite demanding - it all depends how much depth you want to go into. It has definitely been worth all the effort - I feel a lot more confident in my teaching now. If you can spread the work out evenly, it shouldn't take a huge amount of time. However, I am the sort of person that tends to do things in blocks, so it took over my life periodically and then there were weeks when I did nothing!

CTABRSM = Certificate of Teaching of the ABRSM (bit of a mouthful!!)

Have decided that I need new shoes.. laugh.gif

Thanks for that, at least I know it is possible! I am not sure if I am a systematic worker or a block worker but either way hopefully I will get there too! I am looking to gain confidence in my teaching more than anything as I have a variety of ages and abilities in my pupils.

Good luck. It is a really useful course. I hope you enjoy it. smile.gif

Well done! You must be over the moon.
I am fairly new to teaching (about a year now) and seriously thinking about doing the CT course too.
However, after returning to piano playing in recent years after many years only playing now and then, I still feel that my playing is not where I want it to be (I am somewhere between grade 7 and 8, I guess) and that this could be a stumbling block in terms of coping with the course.
Although I got a grade 8 brass many years ago, it is piano that I am teaching (and loving).
What sort of standard playing is required for the course???
