Not an answer to the question but I've often wondered why the AB don't make the details of past syllabuses available on the web: surely it would be a rather useful resource for students and teachers wanting to find material at the right level (I realise they produce books specifically of material for each level but surely this would be more useful information). Is this because they haven't got around to it, because there's no demand for it or because they don't want to publish the information for some reason?
I think I recall a while ago some people talking about getting old books from ebay, maybe you could try that. There may well be someone here who has them. We have grade 1 from 1990 if that's any help, and grade 2 about a year later etc. That's probably too late for you though....

I took my Grade 5 in 1988, I still have the book. The syllabus was:
List A
1 Bach Air, from French Suite no 2, BWV 813
2 Haydn Sonata in G, Hob XVI/6: fourth movement
3 Heller Gipsy Dance, Op 136 No 19
List B
1 Richard Jones Boree in A minor
2 Schubert Shcerzo in B flat, D 593/1
3 Dejan Despic Fanfare, Op 43a
List C
1 Borodin Reverie, from Petite Suite
2 Nielsen Arabesque, Op 3 No 3
Hope this helps a bit! I can remember playing the Boree in A minor, it's a good piece and well worth seeking out.

If you can find some of these dusty old music shops they probably don't have regular clear outs and you may be able to get copies.

Hi,
I took my Grade 2 in 1988, but the syllabus had already been post. If I am not wrong I think in 80's, syllabus for all the grades were published in every grade. Unfortunately I don't have my book with me. If anybody have a book, he/she should be able to give you the syllabus for Grade 1 to Grade 5.

well I have a copy of all the piano syllabus from 1980-1988 for grades 1-8 except for 1984 can't find that one at the moment. Let me know which year and grade you are after as it would take me ages to list all the pieces.
