The Zoom H4 is good, records good quality as mp3 but has better quality options aswell. I've only used it for mp3, downloaded it to computer then saved to CD. The CDs are perfectly acceptable considering the cost of the H4. I believe they are currently around £200 new.
Zoom H2 also very good and slightly cheaper (about £150). Review and links to sample recordings at
http://digitalmedia.oreilly.com/2007/09/13...d-recorder.htmlI just bought a Sony PCM-D50. The sound quality is stunning. Close to professional CD quality. [Which has its drawbacks - as every flaw in my playing is rendered with precision!]
It is more expensive than the Zoom H2 or H4 but a far better made and more professional piece of kit. I got mine from Big Buy City in the USA and after paying postage, import duties and VAT it was still only 2/3 the price of buying it in Europe.
