I am in the school production of West Side Story playing Bassoon!!!

I got the music today and it is really hard. It goes so high there are notes you only need for grade 6 up.

Does anyone know about the alto clef???

Thanks for any help.

Ceri

PS It is on Dec 5th

Yes, but a super show, so worth all the hard work.

Bombard I have heard of, but what's a bomarde?

Is this the symphonic dances? Havent played it but know of it. It has got top F's in it. I cannot get those notes, I can get higher than my teacher. but they are doubled by loud trompets playing, so should be alright

Good luck

If it's a bassoon part, are you sure it's not actually TENOR clef?

Cannot imagine bassoon would be in Alto clef - no bassoonist is expected to read that.

I think it must be Tenor Clef.

It might be but no-one is sure.

I have looked through the score and i can actually play quite a bit. I found that I need to learn to flutter tounge.

It is an folk instrument from Brittany. I personally think it is the hardest to play- had it five years and I can only get one note out of it. A bit like a short oboe.

I better go and start Practicing for West Side Story...
