I can think of several people who have an exam shortly, but without ploughing back through posts and emails, I've lost track with when they are blush.gif If anybody wants to post here when your date is (and instrument/grade), we'll all know when to wish you luck party1.gif

PS. Not just adult learners, anyone taking an exam is welcome to post!

Well done Nick. Hope you have passed.

I have my Grade 4 piano on Monday 23rd March at 12.44

I need to do a dry run to try and find the place before the day. think I may go by train that way I wont have to worry about parking or driving down there.

I have my Grade 3 flute exam on 27th March at 12:10

I think I'm ok with the aural tests and the sight reading. Just need to practise,practise,practise!:-)

I feel ready any way!

I am a comparitive newcomer, I had my Grade 1 Theory exam a week ago on 27 February, and my Piano Grade 1 practical ion May... probably the 12th.

Grade 2 piano Weds 1st Apil at 16:02

I think I should do OK as long as my nerves hold up. I remeber my Grade 1 just before Christmas I got worse as the exam went on. When I had to stand up for the aural tests I didn't think my legs would hold out laugh.gif

Took grade 3 jazz piano this afternoon. Very nervous as it was at a different centre. Okay overall, but I always spoil at least one piece by making loads of nervous mistakes.

Thank you! You're quite right - and we should be careful what we wish for - I do have rather a sore left arm suddenly. Maybe over practicing...

Monday 23rd March. Grade 7 piano (LCM). Still some tidying-up to do on some of the pieces, and decide which C list piece to play. Choice between Chopin Mazurka, Opus 67 No. 3, Ilynsky's Berceuse or Grovlez Petites Litanies de Jesus - will probably decide on the day.

My son has Grade 7 saxophone at 11.30 on 23rd March, Grade 5 clarinet at 4.54 on the same day and Grade 3 piano on 24th March, some time in the morning. I'm feeling much more nervous than he is!

My piano teacher has just told me I'm ready to do my Grade 5 next session.

Good luck to all those who have exams!
Lemontree
I just had. Yesterday. I messed soooooo up. One trill mistake in the A piece, one missed start after a rest. Luckily for the first time ever with this piece, I found my way into it again and finished with asyncrone notes with my acompanist. And finally I found out that I have studied a wrong arpeggio and the scales didn't go as well as last time either, although I had not had to breath for the 2nd time ever in my 2 octaves of D major. And the Aural, I coundn't believe it, went astoundingly well, as did the sight reading, which I am usually good at. I wish I were tested for my English language skills yesterday. I would have got my distinction. But with that performance I probably have very closely missed it this time. I was soooooo nervous. I couln't believe it. Last time I went in there and was so cool. I think the C piece was ok, although I thought one note was not very sound at all. But I really cannot remember anymore. The whole exam yesterday is only a blurr.

Hi smile.gif Good for you to pick up from your mistake ... its normally natural to be nervous during the exam and not remember much after that ... not to worry, what you thought to be not so good might not be bad after all... as long as you played your best .... don't think too much after its over and before you know it, you would have receive your results and realize you did better than you expect ...

I think I just about survived mine yesterday! Scales, sightreading and aural seemed ok. There were mistakes in all my pieces though. Nothing too major I hope, but I did re-start a piece. Everything was going fine until I made a mistake in my first piece, I sort of slipped on a chord and made the most horrendous noise, but carried on. I also hit the wrong note in my left hand at the same time!! It did knock my confidence (not that I had much to begin with) and my hands were actually shaking through the next two pieces.

Still, on the whole it was not too bad for a first exam, just got my fingers crossed now that the examiner didn't think I was a complete disaster!

Well done Jazz chicken I am sure that you have done better than what you think by the sounds of it.

Thanks for the luck, I am feeling really nervous now, I wanted a stress free weekend but that just hasn't happened. Hopefully for the rest of the day I will get time just to chill out. This is my first practical exam too so I just don't know what to expect.

It actually sounds as though you've done well, Jazz Chicken. Fingers crossed! I had the mistakes and shaking hands thing in my last exam, but my scales were far worse, and I actually had to start a section in one of my pieces twice. I thought I'd failed, but ended up with a merit, so let's hope you're headed for a distinction!
