So, you are being told that you have to give up something that you love. What would be the worst thing for you?
I love Scotch and wine, but I could give them up if needed.
Tea is my one weakness.......... I could never give up my tea.

Music.
I dread the day I go deaf, not being musical enough to be able to hear music that well without it being physically sounded, and I dread arthritis stopping me being able to play.
*fingers crossed that neither happens*

No, no, don't do that! Crossing fingers precipitates existing athritic tendencies!

Well I have gone deaf Anacrusis. But I'm still playing, so don't worry

It might never happen anyway.

I can think of many things, some of them not too suitable to post here.

Perhaps I would most hate to give up my ponies, my recorder playing and singing and doing online theory and composition if the internet connection were to fail.

YOu are all quoting thngs you can't eat or drink. So if it's that, then I could never give up music.

Books and/or reading. I could maybe live without books as long as I could still read on the internet, although it wouldn't be the same. But reading... I dread never being able to read again if/when I lose my eyesight as I get older

Coffee - proper coffee
Unfortunately as I'm thinking of quitting smoking (another thing I don't like giving up but I know I must) I might have to cut down the coffee a bit too as the two seem to go hand in hand with me

I actually don't think there's any food/drink that I'd really hate to give up, as long as I still had everything else. I think what I'd hate much more would be to give up having a variety of food/drink.
Other than that - music and friends. The two seem to go hand in hand more and more, and it would really break my heart to give up either.

For food stuff, nothing but if it's an ingredient, I would hate to not eat something with chicken once in a while.

Coffee and dancing. I thought I was going to have to go without coffee for a whole afternoon the other week and was beginning to panic. Fortunately I found some. Now I know how smokers feel.
I've had to give up playing the violin for the last few months because of a shoulder problem. That is really getting me down.
I haven't given up potato crisps, but I try to keep that under control, e.g. there is no point in buying those 6 packs from the supermarket to save money. They don't last 24 hours because I'm a chain-crisp-eater.

I did have to go without coffee when pregnant, because it made me feel sooo ill - but missed it all the same, and as soon as my kids were born, it was the first sustenance I asked for

. And yes, real coffee, not the peculiar freeze-dried stuff which smells of musty furniture...
Wine I've had to cut back on because of medication, and am not missing it, so that's okay.
Good chocolate I'd miss, and ditto good cheese.

Non food/drink: Music, friends, swimming, and I'd hate to go deaf.
Food/drink: nothing in particular, although I could never become vegetarian, so I suppose it's meat. Also, maltesers and pringles are both VERY addictive

Food/drink... I guess coffee.
Other than that, I'm sorry but I'll have to make some of you cringe and say mwl1. I don't know where I'd be without him (in fact, I don't think I would even *be*). He is the most loving, supportive person I have ever met and to give him up... well, it doesn't bear thinking about. Goodness knows how he's put up with me over the last while but I'm glad he has done!

But yes - coffee!

If you'd asked me a few years' ago then I would probably have said my bike as I cycled everywhere. Unfortunately, after a bad accident I HAD to give it up - have just about come to terms with it now so anything is possible!
Food wise: cheese, wine and tea would be difficult for me.

The live ones - husband, sons, cats, rabbits - not necessarily in that order (the rabbits come first, of course

)
Other than that - books and sunlight - or rain
But if we're getting down to what really matters, then I think tea and chocolate - and cheese. I'd be alright without bacon as long as I never had to smell it cooking - to smell that and not be able to eat it would be awful.
