Hi,
Not sure if this is the right forum but never mind...

I have to make a presentation on West Side Story for my AS/A2 class (still in yr12 but doing A2 stuff atm) for the last week of term as a "bit of fun". I've sorted out the serious bits of my presentation, but I need to have themed food and drink, and also need a related creative activity- something they can make. This is my stuck bit. Themed food shouldn't be too hard as it's New York, but creative activity... I've already got something for them to play on keyboards/flutes (conveniently all of us play flute).

Anyone got any creative ideas? I've got to fill an hour and i'm hoping this may end up taking about 15mins/20mins...

They had guns as well. My brother in law played Bernardo in one of the first (if no the first) ever amateur productions of 'WSS' in the late 60's after it had been released for amateur societies. At one performance, the gun had been loaded with too much powder, it went off with a ###### of a bang, startling everyone and nearly took his hand off ! Fortunately he was not hurt.

Have you the time and space to learn a dance routine to one of the big numbers - say, "America" ?

Not really got the space to do dance (plus I can't dance for toffee and neither can most of the class!)
Not entirely convinced that if I get them all rolling cigars and stabbing each other it will go down well with the head
But at least i've got some ideas...any more fire away (lol)

How about you try and get them to make a medley of some of the songs, say half do one gangs songs and the other half do the other gangs songs, and then perform it, and do it as a competition with the teacher judging it. Although it may take up a bit too much time.
