Full Version: Who Is Schmoll? - Mysterious Composer Of Grade 4 Piece.
Does anyone know anything about the composer "Schmoll". He or possibly she wrote "Saltarello" - one of the pieces for the Grade 4 Trinity Guildhall exams. The notes for the exam give no information at all and a search on Google tells me Schmoll is a model! I would be grateful for any information anyone may have. I am now really intrigued to find out if this composer actually exists!

btw I typed in 'Schmoll and piano' into Google.
I found a reference to his "Nouveau cours de piano" (1873) on the website below - links to a database on Royal Holloway website. He produced the French edition based on a 5 stage piano course by Aloys Hennes. Apparently he, Schmoll, was a piano teacher. The course "guides young pupils from the first elements of the art of piano through to the studies of Bertini, Cramer and up to the sonatas of Haydn, Mozart and Clementi." A rough translation.
