Full Version: Who Killed Archie Mitchell?

The live episode this Friday will reveal who killed Archie Mitchell on Christmas Day.

Personally, I couldn't care less, but am aware of it because my wife watches!

One thing that I can't work out is this: The cast don't know who did it, and won't know until Friday. However, they film Eastenders months in advance so, surely, the story line of one character will have given it away to the cast already?

I don't suppose I shall know on Saturday.

Eastenders - the show that always tries to cheer you up on Christmas day by putting a grisly death in the storyline.

Can't stand it myself tongue.gif

I don't watch Eastenders, but I'm just intrigued as to how/why is it 'live'? unsure.gif

It is a live transmission, i.e. we're seeing it as it happens. There's no editing process and things can (and probably will) go wrong. I remember a live Bill episode a few years ago where part of the set fell down and you could see the actors trying not to laugh!

I have watched probably around 15-20 minutes of EastEnders in about 25 years. That was plenty laugh.gif

The Museum Of Childhood? Can't say I have, but it certainly sounds like a fab place! biggrin.gif we went to the Natural History Museum in London on a school trip, but me and a few friends got lost in the lunch break as we wandered off to try to find the Royal College Of Music instead biggrin.gif (well, it WAS signposted...) tongue.gif

It's a good museum. Not sure it warrants more than one visit, but it's certainly worth seeing once. smile.gif

I had to endure an episode once when I was staying with a friend's family; courtesy won the day I'm afraid.

In exchange for a lift home once, a colleague requested that I watch Emmerdale and report back the following day. Pre-iplayer days, she hadn't set the video and wouldn't have got home in time to watch it. I had never watched an episode (and haven't since) but it was a trial to recall unfamiliar names and relationships that were otherwise unknown to me. I've never remembered any of it! Next time I think I'd consider walking instead!

Apparently they've rehearsed every possible ending and on Friday only the murderer will be told that they killed Archie before the live show. It will be a surprise for the rest of the cast.

Quite a few shows have done this. I think it at the turn of the millennium that Coronation Street did a live episode to 'Save our Street' when they wanted to tarmac over the cobbles. Also, Will and Grace did two live episodes one in season 6 and the other in season 8...You could tell that the cast just wanted to laugh at each other and the jokes, which in turn made it even funnier for the viewer.

Don't know who Archie Mitchell was either and doubt that I ever will.

What amazes me is how well some of the minor soaps do at National TV awards. I have never watched Hollyoaks either.

I really can't be bothered with soaps (or TV for that matter). I get all the entertainment I want from music wink.gif

I'm from Walthamstow, which is North East London and my parents are from Hackney, born and bred. Although I haven't lived there for about 15 years and things may have changed, I don't remember people being as nasty as they all seem to be on Eastenders.
I do watch it occasionally as I now live in Turkey and it's shown here on BBC Entertainment.

I still have withdrawal symptoms from Brookside ... My excuse is, I was once off work sick and couldn't be bothered to do anything except watch very undemanding stuff on television. It coincided with the digging up of the body under the patio and I became completely hooked ..
Before they finally scrapped the programme, the storylines became more and more bizarre and they kept moving it round the schedules so it was really difficult to track it down. But I did!

Those were the days,

I suppose at least Hollyoaks has some nice eye candy to look at for viewers of both genders and of whatever persuasion! It's forgivable tongue.gif
