I have a question. Is it possible to put a baby grand piano in an apartment?
Considering there is a lift? And the space is big enough?
SueHM
Is the lift big enough to take the piano? Is there a weight limit on the lift?

Yes it is. You can hire people to do it properly for you - they'll take out a window and use a conveyor belt to take it from the street to your apartment.

I would definitely get specialist advice before committing. My local piano removers (who I have used a couple of times) are always very resourceful in getting pianos into difficult places. Here is an example.

it might be worth checking out the soundproofing, you don't want neighbour problems.

Yes. But won't it be a little too much if you must go to the extent as to use a crane or something? Because i live quite high. Do they take it apart and re assemble it? so maybe the lift can withstand the weight after all?

Is it possible to just use the lift? And not have to go to the trouble of a crane? But then, does a grand sound much louder than a upright? I currently have one

Well according to Black Books it is possible to fit Bill Bailey in a piano, so I guess you could put a baby in there. Probably wouldn't be so good with the spoons though...

Going back to the actual question, make sure you've measured up carefully to ensure the piano is going to fit into the apartment. Specialist piano movers could probably get a piano on to Mars if you paid them enough tongue.gif but it may cost you a fair whack and you don't want to then discover there is no room for you after you've got the piano in.

Have you really thought this through? Sure baby-grands are cute when they are babies, but you might not feel the same way when it grows into a full-sized piano.

And once you've handled it the mother will never accept it back. laugh.gif

That's interesting. But what are you trying to say really? Or it's just a joke? smile.gif
