When is the audition? Plan the pieces that show you off the best. These are not necessarily the hardest pieces but the ones in which you show the most emotion and expression and impress the ajudicators the most. Also, which instrument do you feel you play the best on?

Play the pieces which are most ready and sound the best. Ask both your teachers what they think. Record yourself and see which one you think sounds the best!

Well, that should make it easier, play all the pieces you would play, see what he/she thinks. Then record them at home, see which one you think is better. Some of my grade 7 flute pieces, well they could be played but they are by no means perfect.

I think go with the alto sax if you want to make an impression based on the rarity of the instrument. I love the sound, there are some in our band.

I've got an audition for huddersfield and my teacher's given me a few grade 6 pieces to try out. He said he would rather I played a slightly easier piece well than mess up a piece which was a bit more difficult. And besids, they probably won't know what stahdard the pieces are, they're more interested in hearing you play.
Good luck!

Can you not play some of both instruments? Peraps something jazzy on sax, and more traditional/classical on clarinet?
