What motivates you to practice?
I practice because I love music, and I like the sense of achievement after a recital or a competition. biggrin.gif

Simple. I want to play music.

1st motivation - I want to play, and I want to play well

lesser motivations - having a lesson coming up can make me practice so I don't make a fool of myself in the lesson... having an exam or performance coming up will make me practice because I don't want to let myself down..

but mostly just because I want to play well, and practice is the only way to do that, as any fule no.

I think I'm the same as Sarah-flute- I practise because I like playing and I want to play well, but I also practise so I don't look stupid in my lessons or exams biggrin.gif

my flute teacher can get quite nasty if I don't practise, so that's quite a motivation laugh.gif! but I also practise loads in the holidays, because I just love playing the flute biggrin.gif biggrin.gif !!!

i practise more because i feel i have acheived summert if i can play the piece right

it also depends on wot i m playing if i dont like the piece as much i dont play it

lol at least im honest!!!! biggrin.gif

Originally when I started piano (around age 7) it was because I was absolutely terrified of my piano teacher...especially if I didn't practice. Now I not only just love to play, but (call me wehrd) I love the feeling of working myself to death to get something right (probably the same reason I force myself out for a long run in -0 degree weather)

I suppose for me, it would depend on the deadline for the essay. smile.gif

What's the use of writing about music?
I'll put in 3 hours on piano instead of writing about music to be played seen and heard.

c'est moi.

I've been watching the Firebird ballet on a respectable-sized screen but was forced to mute the sound for a few seconds.

I wonder if listening to the music without seeing the ballet is as pointless as watching the ballet without the music. In both cases, sensuous experience but something is missing.
