Might be interesting.... Will speak to them nearer the time and see where they are short that gives 3 maybe 4 options. Trying to gate crash the Sax masterclass at the moment

Mine too, I just love it! It's especially fun to play. It was the very first work that I ever played with a symphony orchestra when I was 12

Just to give you yet another option...
The first oboe part of the first movement is mainly a cor-anglais part.
I know because I'm playing it with my orchestra at the moment

The clarinet parts are great (1 and 2)

As I'm sure you know, the 1st clarinet and the cor anglais have a solo part together at one point. Our 1st clarinetist is very stressed about this passage - she'd only every played in a wind band before and feels very exposed.

It's a glorious solo though Hopefully she'll just go for it and enjoy it

I have got used to being the only oboe but I know what she feels like. My orchestral experience as a teenager was with the violin and it was something of a shock to go from one of many to being the only one (And a loud one at that )

Could you announce it at your concerts? I was at your concert at Leeds Town Hall last weekend and I'm sure there must have been lots of amateur musicians in the audience. I wouldn't have any problem travelling to Manchester for this sort of event and regularly go to concerts at the Bridgewater Hall.

I was just having a look at the Manchester Camerata Facebook event page and there's no mention of this event - perhaps if you add it to the events page? I'm a music student at the University of Manchester so I'm sure if there was an event page I could invite any instrumental music students that I know from uni. Just an idea!

Include it in the email newsletter and send out information to those who have taken part before.
Send information to amateur orchestras in the area who are listed on the Amateur Orchestra web site.

Good to see you posting on here, Kim : would agree with the Facebook suggestion Stephie suggested - if you put a separate page up for the playday, I'd then be able to easily invite all my friends who I think would be interested.

Both mine and sbhoa's application forms will be in the post to you within the week.

Thanks for all the suggestions! There will shortly be a facebook event as that was definately an oversight and it will be in an e-newsletter at some point in the next couple of months. We have been in touch with previous players, music services and amateur orchestras and in the new year I'll be in touch with university music departments and music societies, so we should get a good turn out!
I'm not sure about announcements at concerts, but we do now have flyers at Manchester venues, so perhaps we could extend these to other places.
