It would probably be useful to tell people which instrument you're talking about... smile.gif

Her post is called Grade 3 Piano, so I'm guessing piano tongue.gif

Recently sat the exam myself and happy to say I got 130, which is distinction biggrin.gif

Examiners look for dynamics, phrasing, contrast all those wee things that don't seem too important.

Daughter passed Grade 3 piano last week with a distinction (133). Her examiner was looking for ALL dynamics and correct speed in everything, scales, arppegios and pieces.

Good luck when the time comes.

If you go to the bottom of this page, you will see a link to a booklet called These Music Exams. It's very helpful generally, but specifically there is a section which tells you how the marking scheme works, ie how many marks are awarded for scales, aural, sightreading and pieces. It also tell you what the examiner is looking for, so you'll be able to tell what will get you a better mark.

The booklet is also available in music shops.

Good luck with your next exam, and I look forward to hearing what pieces you're planning to learn. I've only just passed Grade 1 this summer so I've a way to go yet before catching up to you biggrin.gif
