What with BadStrad's missing h and Anacrusis's w and s being swapped for vv and z.

I know I shouldn't, because it must be really annoying, but it is really making me laugh! biggrin.gif

The missing letter problem could be temporarily cured by copying the missing letter (highlight with mouse) and pressing CTRL V when needed...

Fixed smile.gif I'd find it really annoying if it were my keyboard! Anacrusis' posts are really making me laugh too smile.gif

Keyboard shortcuts aren't much good if your C or V key is broken rolleyes.gif

I think Anacrusis spilled coffee on her keyboard and is having to invent 'new' letters.

(ok ok I admit there is nothing wrong with my keyboard. But I have wrecked two keyboards on this laptop so far, does that count?)

And I have to hit the y key and f key really hard at times to get them to work. Not too bad tonight but are sticking at present and of course some of my letters, especially the h and e must be teh the wrong way round since I keep writing teh instead of the amongst other things (or that could just be my really bad touch typing wink.gif )

My nevv keyboard iz ztill avvaited: the rationale for uzing the letterz I have iz that z iz really only a buzzy s, and vvhat iz a w if not tvvo vvz next to each other? I uzed the onzcreen keyboard to do the tvvo letterz the vvay they zhould be, but that iz zoooo zlovv. Thank goodnezz my login pazzvvord didn't contain any of the mizzing keyz....I alzo have no pluz, no Inzert, and no right zhift dry.gif....

Solari, I agree - I can't help but read anacrusis with a "bad German accent as done in English war film" smile.gif I will miss it when it is gone smile.gif

Yes Solari that is precisely the image that comes into mind. smile.gif

Of course those of us who are really sad, who hang around on railway stations and in organ lofts, (and who wear anoraks blush.gif ) remember our ASCI codes, so we don't need the letters on the keyboard.

If you hold down the Alt key, and then enter 097 on the numeric keyboard you will be rewarded with the letter 'a'. Alt 098 gives you letter 'b', and so forth until you get to Alt 122, which is 'z'.

If you need upper case letters, simply use Alt 065 (A) through to Alt 090 (Z).

This system also makes it easy to use non-standard or foreign characters, which are not included in standard British keyboards; for example:

Alt 0181 = ? (Backwards u or Micron symbol)

Alt 0176 = ? (Degrees)

Alt 234 = Ω (Omega or Ohms)

(Some of these may not display properly on the forum.)

I uze the International Keyboard layout vvhich allovvz me to do all thoze other characterz - the Umlaut, and the one vvhich lookz like a beta, accentz, and Icelandic thorn and eth....it uzez Alt-gr and punctuation markz to adjuzt letterz: hovvever, my normal typing zpeed iz about 60vvpm, and again, all theze alternativez are juzt too zlovv, and vvould drive me batz to have to labour out. Zorry to thoze vvho might vvant to read my poztz, you'll juzt have to put up vvith it laugh.gif.

Az everyone vvho knovvz me vvell vvill be avvare - I'm a fluent German zpeaker and ken du a faultlezz tcherman ekzent vvhen zpikking englizh anyvvay rofl.gif (though my real Englizh accent iz lezz eazy to zhoehorn, regionally zpeaking, beyond, erm, probably zouth).

Tee hee! Useful for pub quizzes, but I think I might stick to touch typing for my day-to-day forum posts work.

Hey yes thats it...

I think Solari and others have finally sussed out anacrusis' other, secret job - sending coded messages about the French Resistance back to Gestapo Headquarters in Berlin, laugh.gif

Honestly, I do understand how frustrating it must be for you anacrusis. But when I saw Solari's post of the Herr Flick picture from Allo Allo, it sent me into such a fit of giggles I laughed myself into a ztitch....and it still hurtz.
